Beautifully decorated rooms, friendly staff. The food at the Melville Inn was delicious. We had an evening meal and breakfast, and both were superb. Great stop over location, easy to get a bus into Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

The manager, Adam, and his staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. From giving us tips on places to go, trails around the area, where to eat, buses to catch, and also assisting with some washing. The Conservatory was a beautiful place to eat breakfast, have a coffee or dinner. The Sunday roast is superb 👌

Walking 10 mins to Edinburgh Royal infirmary was a god send my daughter was in HDU. The assistant at the guest house (dorothy) was cheerful and helpful. After the last guest house I was in it was a step up. Continental breakfast included was fresh tasty and plenty to choose from. Obviously in need of updating and new carpets throughout would improve the place. But in this economic climate they will need all the money from bookings on overheads and wages.. I would recommend it as a good place to stay as bus stop into city centre No33 straight to Princes Street right outside the guest house. Magnificent Craigmillar Castle is a must see and a 10 minute walk up a steep incline but great to walk in the steps of Mary Queen of Scots

Location was amazing , everything was in walking distance . The room was lovely , very comfortable superking bed , large bathroom with lovely deep bath .
