Chez Chris, hotel in Geüs-d'Oloron

Offering a garden and mountain view, Chez Chris is situated in Oloron-Sainte-Marie, 41 km from Zénith-Pau and 41 km from Palais des Sports de Pau.

We were met by our host who welcomed us and opened the gate to the property. The apartment is on the first floor. It is modern, tastefully furnished and decorated with every appliance for a visiting tourist. The double bed was comfortable, good lighting throughout the Wi-Fi excellent and a good shower. We were also given the remote for the automatic gate to let ourselves out the next morning. Because we were in a quiet location, we decided to take advantage of the peaceful garden/pool area to dine al-fresco. When our hosts returned from work, we asked them if they would like to join us for an aperitive – that led to a wonderful evening of us and them conjoining food and drink and spending our last night in France chatting and relaxing in a mixture of languages – mostly ‘pidgin’!.

Maison D'Orride, hotel in Geüs-d'Oloron

Situated in Ledeuix, Maison D'Orride features accommodation in a former farm with an outdoor pool, garden and panoramic views of Pyrenees mountains. Complimentary WiFi is provided.

The property is an authentic, rustic farm converted lovingly and carefully into a tasteful, comfortable and beautiful place to stay by the owners who have clearly put every effort and love into the renovation. They are also impeccable hosts who treat their guests like friends, taking care to remember our names. Maison D’Orride sits at the end of a track, with wonderful views of the Pyrenees. Leon the dog was there waiting for us, a gentle giant who my daughter loved. For dinner, we ate in the courtyard which has a beautiful acer tree. Marina made us a delicious pork, potato and aubergine dish followed by local cheeses and an amazing chocolate fondant. The wine was locally sourced. Breakfast was fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads and freshly baked cakes each morning. The pool area was spectacular with its views of the mountains and the whole property is incredibly clean and tidy. There are some “house rules” such as not to eating in rooms but with a property like this, it’s entirely fair. We loved it, thank you!

A wonderful out of the way very quiet location close to the Pyrennes yet only an hour to St Paul les Dax. Great welcoming host. For me, it was only an overnight stop but I could have very happily stayed far longer.

very comfortable bed, good shower - a good basic level of accomodation. The dinners were excellent quality and value - worth having even if you’re not staying there. The family who own and run it are very kind.
