We had updated our host on the day tht if poss our arrival would be earlier than we had initially said; no problm, the host spotted us as we cycled into the village as she drove to the house, and stopped her car to confirm we were her guests. That was especially helpful as the cottage was 100m from where we expected, and set back from the road, so might have been a struggle to find.

It was light and airy, very clean and the furniture was new/ in very good condition. Despite us being late Lawrence and Laurent were able to rustle up a delicious dinner for us. Laurent also took the time to introduce us to Lucky the dog, two ponies and allowed the boys to play table football on the table that’s been in his family for years.

The refuge de athena is a lovely place to stay, very comfortable and relaxed, with kitchen, playstation, netflix etc. Eric was a fantastic host and he and his partner made the group feel very welcome. He was incredibly informative and helped us find a local bike repair shop and also ordered us pizzas (our collective French being pretty weak). Would definitely stay again!
