The owner was very helpful to arrange that we could arrive smoothly at very late hours, Our stay was short, but we enjoyed the clean rooms and the breakfast, especially the traditional freshly baked Karelian pies and porridge.

Seems basic on the face of it but the facilities are really quite good. though the beds are quite old they are comfortable. The guest kitchen has everything you would need to cook a meal for a full family ! The host is a very charming lady who with very little English still manages to remain courteous and kind. Karjalan Helmi is a wonderful and peaceful family business that rents out several cottages of various sizes. The owner is very friendly and supportive.
The cottage I stayed in was clean and had all amenities I could think of (even a dishwasher and an ironing board). I highly enjoyed the fireplace and sauna.
