A beautifully renovated modern apartment at ground level awaited us. The house is surrounded by a manicured garden where many birds can be observed. Our very friendly hosts Ramona and Ronny offered a range of regional wines as decoration in the apartment; we took a few boxes home of some favourites. The small village of Speisel is surrounded by fields and forests and beautiful walks start from the doorstep. A series of maps were available in the house. The quiet village of Speisel is only a few kilometers from the busy and occasionally noisy Rhine valley with Loreley, Cat and Mouse Castles and many more.

Very friendly hosts, even if not present, they sent me a message where they explained everything. Also sent 2 more messages during our stay, just to know how everything goes and if we need anything. The house is big, very clean, comfortable and calm. It has 3 bedrooms and a lovely large bathroom with towels, the kitchen is fully equipped (including a fridge, kettle, coffee maker, dishwasher etc.), even some basic foods as salt, oil or coffee are available and we got a drink as a welcome gift.

The most comfortable of the 12 hotels, hostels and B&Bs I stayed in during my three-week, three-country vacation. The only place I felt as if I were in a home--which I was. Spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable, modern--a real home. Hosts Usch and Albrecht were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Supermarket near in Lorch. Gas near in Sankt Gorhausen. Highly recommended (except for cellphone service, perhaps).
