Great place for parents to relax with kids under 12 yrs old. Comfortable spacious room with a balcony and view. They even included a surprise gift for the kids. Complete breakfast with a kids playroom around the corner. Amazing wellness area and swimming area with kids pool, slide and other things for kids to get excited about! The restaurant was gourmet and there was also a kids area to play so parents can actually enjoy their meal. We walked from the hotel to Engelberg center via a beautiful trail that runs along the river (about 20-30 mins walking). Wifi worked perfectly. Everything was very clean. There is also a camping site with small grocery store in case you need anything at all.

Such a lovely new building, rooms are lovely with views from every balcony. Staff were amazing, so helpful and really on hand to deliver a 5* service. Fantastic all round.

Unexpectedly the most incredible hotel and dining experience we’ve probably ever had. We booked villa hundert as the last night after a multi day hike through the mountains and it was perfect. The room was beautiful and it was a great place to unwind. The whole hotel was beautiful, filled with candles and there were lovely communal spaces to enjoy. We went down for dinner and had a delicious cocktail and the first few courses on the terrace beside a wood fire with an incredible view of the mountains as it got dark. When we were ready we went inside to finish the meal. The hosts were so attentive and clearly so passionate about the project. The food was incredible - it was described as a love letter to Switzerland and you could really feel that. The music, the wine, the decor - everything was so beautiful with not a hint of pretension. We slept very soundly. The breakfast was also so thoughtfully done and we asked for scrambled eggs which were delicious and freshly made. I was so impressed by the whole experience, everything was thought through and so much care was given. We didn’t know what to expect when we booked but this was the highlight of our trip. I can’t say enough how highly I would recommend staying here. Thank you Christian, John and Anna. We hope to come back one day soon.

It is located close to most places of interest. We could park our car at the hotel and walked to the different places easily. The staff at the Breakfast section were service oriented and made up fell very welcoming and we were well served.

We have booked this place for 2 families quite spontaniously. Our stay was a pleasant experience from A-Z. I want to highlight the friendly messages before the stay, the welcome letter on the bed and the mirror, the play room for the kids, the breakfast with smilies on the eggs and the delicious croissants and the exquisite Sauna facility. The location right at the train station is a big plus too. We felt very comfortable and home at Sonnenwendehof. Oh and that I do not forget to mention: The late check out was a real treat. The concept of a shared kitchen is great and interesting, adding a unique touch to the stay. The hotel is in a great location, close to the most important activities, and the bus station is just a minute away. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The place is spotless clean, feels very relaxed and homely. There is also a very caring and helpful management team.
the idea to offer guests a possibility of preparing their own meals during the stay is great. It gives one flexibility, and significantly reduces the price, especially if you have a smaller budget , do not want to dine out every night or are a family with children.
The kitchen is equipped with everything one may need to.prepare a full dinner, even if you want to bake a cake 😄
Good family hotel, good location, warm and comfortable. My only draw back was hard mattresses, which effected my sleep. No mattress toppers available.
We also were not able to make a reservation in the hotel restaurant during the evening, so I recommend you book in advance of your stay. There is a good asian restaurant and steakhouse close by however.
The spa is lovely, nice pool and good sauna. And the breakfast is decent for families too.
Everything was fantastic from the beautiful pine room with beds that were so comfortable, the professionally equipped kitchen with everything you need and more, the children's play room with dress up and a great photo booth for fun family photos. The adult room although we didn't get chance to use it was gorgeous. Finally Frank our host was brilliant, friendly and very knowledgeable. We have already booked again for longer this time.. to cap it all it's in one of the most stunning places we have ever been,.fabulous...
We came skeptical of the concept, but it was a great experience - extremely responsive staff despite the idea of a "digital hotel" and particularly convenient for families with kids. This was especially due to access to a very well equipped kitchen so we can make kids-friendly meals, the exceptional kids room (amazing! the costumes and huge mirror were an added bonus) and the ability to cook while still supervising the children were huge plusses.
Also a nice way to save some money.
