If you do not mind to stay at someone’s apartment, Au petit bonheur is not a bad option. We stayed just one night in Colombier on our way from Zurich to Geneva. The owner Antonio is very pleasant gentleman, who keeps everything clean and tidy in his apartment. It is nicely decorated as well. The rented room is not small, bed is comfortable, private bathroom. One handy detail is a small mini-bar in the room, where you can buy some soft drinks, beer or wine. The price is just a little bit higher than in a supermarket. We were allowed to use the kitchen and balcony. Parking is available on request. The apartment block is located in a quiet location, kids playground is reachable within 1-2 min walking. We asked to prepare the breakfast pretty early and Antonio made it at 7 for us. The breakfast was very good - boiled eggs, croissants, coffee, cheeses, baguette, yoghurt, melon.
Cortaillod (Near Areuse)

Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, if pricey. Staff is well trained and it shows; menu was only in French to a little hard to navigate.

Perfect location surrounded by wooded mountain sides, though the river was quite noisy. Excellent breakfast - possibly the first time I have really enjoyed eating a continental breakfast, but that also has something to do with the relaxed atmosphere and the surroundings.

It’s spectacular building in a lovely setting, very well built and finished. my room, with a view over the lake towards the west, was large and very comfortable indeed. I liked having a shoehorn and shoe cleaning kit, which were useful as it turned out. The bathroom was immaculate. The minibar was well stocked, although the prices mean that One might really need a drink before grabbing one. Lovely to have a Nespresso machine in the room, with enough capsules for the morning before breakfast. The staff were faultlessly, polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them.
