Hotels in Shibu Onsen, Yamanouchi

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. Cozy place right in the middle of the Yamanouchi onsen route. One onsen is literally paces away. Exceptional staff who went above and beyond (shoutout to Karinn in particular). Everyone I talked to spoke decent to good english. Good food and decent toilet facilities. I booked a cheap dorm bunk and was afraid it would be 15 snoring men in a barracks, but it was in fact a cozy three-bed room with privacy curtains on the beds. You get everything you need for the nine onsen route for free, except the cloth to stamp at every onsen, which is ¥400.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths, a heated indoor pool and beautiful Japanese gardens, Senjukaku offers traditional Japanese-style accommodations that has a historic charm. the building is amazing. I loved all the art, all the corners, the garden with the koi, the private onsen for 1500¥ / 45 minutes. classical music is playing until 10pm. there’s unlimited coffee for free. fresh drinking water, tea, sweets and fresh flowers will wait for you every day in your room. the room we stayed in was spacious and had beautiful light. the staff was always professional, helpful and considerate. the snow monkey park is easily reachable by foot, and there’s are great cafe / restaurant (the farmhouse) very close, if you fancy some local beer and food.

Only a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park, Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya offers simple Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Very neat, traditional ryokan. Breakfast was delicious. Host was helpful and even gave us a ride to the station. Onsen can be used privately with the reservation.

Minshuku Miyama offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Guests can relax in the public outdoor hot-spring baths and wear Japanese Yukata robes. Traditional japanese guest house experience. Great onsen and delicious food! Staff was super friendly and welcoming! Sugoi!!

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Great location and awesome facilities! Had both gendered onsens and also a private outdoor onsen you could use!

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. We booked this place primarily for its proximity to the snow monkey park, but were absolutely delighted by the accommodations. They picked us up from the bus station upon arrival, dropped us off at the park, and had our luggage delivered to a cafe across from the train station which made arrival/departure so easy. The staff were exceptional - kind, accommodating, and polite (and spoke excellent English). The meals were yummy and filling. The ryokan is next to a street of onsens which they give you a special key to access, but we felt the onsen in this ryokan was the best (and obviously most convenient) - there is a spacious and clean indoor onsen, as well as a smaller open air onsen (it was magical sitting in it while it snowed). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Located in the center of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations. We were positively surprised in every aspect of our stay. Amazing room, superb staff “accueil “ , two banquets (dinner and breakfast) of incredible quality , onsen beauty, hakama (kimono shaped pieces for use be in the hotel be outside in the onsen street) quality and variety ( one for winter other for inner use ) . The private onsen was amazing but I guess any room in this place would make guests happy . It is definitely unfair to qualify it as a 3 star, it should be more .

On just a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Station, Wafu-no-Yado MASUYA features beautiful Japanese-style rooms, hot spring baths and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms boast a private outdoor hot spring bath. Fun, authentic, clean and exceptionally friendly staff. The food preparation was outstanding.
