Situated in the middle of beautiful Matsukawa Valley, Fukeikan 風景館 is a classic Japanese-style accommodation operating for more than 250 years. The staff here was superb! They went out of their way to accommodate us when we made a transportation error — not only coming to pick us up at Nagano Station but also holding dinner for us despite our very late arrival. This was the best and kindest customer service we have ever received. Once there, we were impressed by the incredible meals (both dinner and breakfast)! Impeccable detail, delicious flavor, beautiful presentation and a wonderful variety of local foods. This was one of our favorite meals ever (and we have eaten in some special places). After dinner we were able to enjoy a private onsen — one for my husband and me, one for the three teenagers. Everything about Fukeikan made me want to come back again, and I hope I don’t have to wait too long to do so.

The best service we've ever had anywhere. Chie was essentially like our personal attendant, helping us with everything including serving dinner, making reservations, and even calling around to find a place that had my size snowboarding boot rental at a local ski resort. She made the experience for us that much better.
