That's all I need to say. It is an old building, very clean and comfortable. It is next to the river and right in town. The location was fantastic.

Set in Kotohira, within 40 km of Liminal Air-core Takamatsu and 40 km of Sunport Fountain, Guesthouse Kotohira offers accommodation with a shared lounge and free WiFi throughout the property as well... First things first: this is a welcoming place. I enjoyed my short time at Kotohira a lot and a huge reason for that was the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the guesthouse. The host (heart and soul of this traditional house in central location) is a bubbly and passionate traveller himself that has seen so many places in Japan and around the world. He is really interested in your own experiences while you travel in the region and he can give you a lot of recommendations. Even though this guest house is in the north of Shikoku, he provided me with travel and commuting advices for Hokkaido. And: I loved the traditional house in central but quiet location. My roomy female dormitory (for 2 people) was lovely decorated. It felt a bit like in a treasure museum. The bath facilities are modern and the kitchen is well equipped (free coffee). So, if you wanna stay in a friendly place where you can recharge travel energy and get freshly inspired, pick this guest house.

A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views. We enjoyed our one-night stay a lot! Free parking, very close and walking distance to the Kotohiragu area. The room itself was very spacious for 2 people. The onsen was also very nice, there were multiple hot tubs (including jet/jacuzzi ones) indoors and outdoors, and they switch the onsen between male and female overnight. There's also restaurants within the hotel itself. The deco of the hotel along the main walkway and the reception was quite traditional and was nice to appreciate.

Toramaru Ryokan offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 33 km of Kitahamaebisu Shrine and 34 km of Takamatsu Heike Monogatari Historical Museum. The location and the staff are wonderful. It’s a bicycle friendly ryokan: no problem to store our bikes inside by the reception.

Located at the foot of Mount Konpira, Kotohira Grand Hotel Sakuranosho features indoor/outdoor public hot-spring baths and relaxing massages. Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!
