Food and cafes are great, and many great places to visit. Weather is usually mild in winter and no too hot in summer.

My spouse and I had a few days to spend between our completed Alaska cruise and then flying to Europe for an additional 3 weeks of vacation so we decided on visiting Vancouver Island, a place neither of us had ever been to. We chose not to rent a car and travelled via BC Connect, a bus company which worked out perfectly.
We thoroughly enjoyed Victoria, a beautiful small city of 400K residents, half retired. Lots of things of interest for everyone including a tour of the Provincial Gov't buildings. Excellent choice of restaurants other than The Spaghetti Warehouse which was terrible!

I come from a small city and I found the traffic heavy. We were here for a family get-together so did not do much sightseeing this time, but I know the views of the harbour are beautiful and the wharf is interesting. We did not do a carriage ride this time but we will next time.

The area was great, enjoyed our visit to Victoria.
The area was great, enjoyed our visit to Victoria. The Butchart Gardens were just incredible. Lots to see and do in Victoria.
Just not that impressed at all with our accommodation, especially for the price paid. No daily service even
We loved everything about the James Bay and feel we have found THE PLACE we want to stay going forward whenever we visit family in Victoria! the location is awesome, in a charming neighborhood but close to walking to downtown and the wharf/water and shopping and restaurants, coffee places, bakeries. we loved the beds and the cleanliness, and the friendly and helpful staff, the Christmas decorations, the hot fresh coffee in the morning, the quiet, it was so quiet, no loud noises at all. we would recommend it to anyone going to Victoria!!!
It is a very nice boutique style hotel in James Bay, just off the inner harbour. Very convenient location as it is close to lots of the main inner harbour attractions and a short but lovely walk to downtown. Very new and nicely furnished suites and a nice patio. We had a unit with full key kitchen facilities which is handy if you want to keep your own food. It has underground parking for a fee. There is a restaurant just off the lobby, but we did not eat there due to so many other options in the area.
The best thing about this hotel is its location - right at the edge of downtown and close to the ferry terminal.
The room was pretty good - comfortable bed, large TV, couch, nice city view, lots of power outlets, and a large bathroom with plenty of surface area. It was a bit tight - when one person sits by the desk/working area, the other has to jump over the bed to get from one side of the room to the other. A second chair for another person with a laptop is not really an option.
Hotel is in an excellent base for visiting all of Victoria’s sights and attractions as most are within 20 minute walks including Beacon Hill Park and the walking trails along the ocean front. Victoria’s inner harbour and Washington ferries just one block away. The breakfast was excellent with a varied hot options every morning. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Lots of complentary parking on site. Rooms very clean and include fridge, microwave, and coffee maker.
We loved the helpful friendly staff. We really liked the room. It was clean. It had a kitchenette. It had a bathtub which I need. It was perfect for us seniors. We also liked the pool and used it every evening for winding down the day and retiring for the night.
We loved the location as The Galloping Goose bike trail was adjacent to the hotel. One could bike to downtown Victoria for entertainment. It wasn’t too too expensive and it was affordable for us seniors.
The staff allowed us to store our luggage before check in on Saturday and after check out on Sunday. The hotel is across the street from the Black Ball Ferry terminal, where we entered Victoria. Our room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated toiletries being provided in large containers installed in the bathtub instead of individual portions, which cause plastic waste. The included breakfast allowed multiple choices and was hot and ample.
The building is beautiful and has many characteristic elements, it's like you're walking into someones house instead of a hotel. It feels very cosy. The hotel is situated in a calm neighbourhood and within a five minute drive to the city centre of Victoria. The room itself is clean, spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and check-in/check-out was easy to do.
The Oswego Hotel was lovely to stay at! Me and my husband stayed in a studio suite for two nights and it was perfect! The location was so nice - it was only about a 10 minute walk to downtown Victoria. We found a beautiful walk just steps away from the Hotel, its called the David Foster Harbour Pathway. The bed was really comfy too! Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend :)
i have lived in victoria for 20 years and know this property well ,if you want to go downtown its 15 mins in a car or taxi, the hosts are great the bedrooms more than adequate ,better than staying in a downtown hotels,i will now forget the downtown hotels with cramped rooms and little views ,this is the best way to see all of downtown out of your bedroom window .
Your staff are the best thing in a city where everyone is working so hard to provide the best service.
The location is great as I presume that this hotel is largely responsible for the development and growth of Victoria
You set a very high standard and the whole town has your hotel to thank and responsible for how this town has become the best of Canada
Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for walking to many things in Victoria. It was nice that the room had a little kitchenette. We were in the Mount Royal building which was nice and quiet. Also very helpful to have car parking for a reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again.
The biggest plus is the location as well as the palms restaurant below.
Conveniently located to most of the interesting spots in downtown victoria as well as close to some bus stops that can take you out further.
The palms restaurant had a great drink and food menu and made us come back for more.
Location and facilities are top notch-especially for travelers from Seattle who arrive by the Victoria Clipper or the Black Ball ferry. The hotel is right across the street! Nice on site restaurant for breakfast (not included), and close to all town amenities, and restaurants.
Loved the room, the balcony with the view, and the facilities. The swimming pool was wonderful, and the hot tub and sauna were a nice surprise. The hotel is a bit out of the way but still within walking distance from downtown Victoria, and it is close to Fisherman's Wharf.
My son loved that the hotel had a pool, it was open until 10 pm and we could go for a dip just before bed. We also liked that the hotel was located not too far from downtown Victoria and had easy access on to the highway for our out of town excursions.
It was 15 minutes from downtown Victoria and the price is one of the cheapest we could find. The place is clean and the person at the reception was able to change us from a 2 single bed to a queen size bed (as we requested but nobody answered).
Nice welcome from Joo at front desk. Kitchen. Pool. Close to downtown. Room was quiet except for some young people returning to hotel around midnight and talking loudly in corridor.
