Lovely scenery. So quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The staff very helpful. Rooms were great. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen had all needed. Loved the morning game and scenery drive. The little shop was reasonably priced for snacks and drinks. Loved the biltong.

The game drives were great although the drivers were too eager to please and therefore scared the animals. The spa facilities were very nice.

My family and I were there in June this year for a short getaway in the karoo. The glamping experience was lovely, the views are great, plenty to do in the area (trails, biking, pool etc.). Beds were comfortable, the shower was hot as well.

The cottage is in a private valley with complete privacy. It has amazing views. For winter - it is well heated by a wood burning stove and has a wood burning hot tub. It is rare to find a pet friendly nature reserve and it was a pleasure to be able to take our fur babies with us.
They have a small farm shop with venison and steaks and a few other items.
It did not match the description at all. The safari part and seeing the animals was good but everything else was poor.
It felt like being processed in a factory. A case of get them all in, and get them all out again! The accommodation was in dire need of refurbishment. The so called, outside rock face shower, wasn’t quite what I was expecting! Rusty shower head, filthy floor and full of mosquitoes. The buffet style full board had a variety of choices but all the food was tepid and shouted ‘food poisoning’ to me. Noisy, uninviting dining hall that looked like a school canteen. No ‘African safari’ atmosphere or decor here.
My advise is book for the day safari but not the overnight stay.

A good place to be away from it all.
A good place to be away from it all. Sufficient wifi for WhatsApp messages and even calling, but not for sending pics. Problem for me was that the google directions are wrong. Be sure to get the right ones and download them before you start your drive there. Car required. About 25 minutes drive to Aquila Game reserve. Very nice staff and excellent presentation of food. Wonderful pool.

We stayed at Aquila Game Reserve which was an amazing experience. Well worth travelling from Cape Town towards Touwsrivier if you are wanting a relaxing stay and a taste of a 'safari'. I did not go into the town of Touwsrivier, so can't actually comment on this.
