In my opinion, Sapa is now an extremely bad place to stay for more than a day or two. Crowded with people and traffic, a very noisy city full of smog and garbage. On the other hand, it is an ideal base for short scooter trips to the surrounding areas. But if you can, look elsewhere for cheaper accommodation. We found good food only with great difficulty and very far from the center, basically unreachable without a motorbike. Today, Sapa is a classic tourist attraction with all the classic ills of the tourism industry.

The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city,...
The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city, with crowding, bustle and traffic jams on the streets. Everything is very expensive with very low value for money.
Unfortunately we encountered many children in local costumes dancing or taking photos with tourists for a few baht. Local organizations advise tourists not to give money or candy to children so as not to encourage them to drop out of school.
However, the surrounding villages are very beautiful to enjoy the nature, the wonderful view, peace and quiet, The transportation from Sapa to the villages is relatively cheap for citizens who trade with Euro or Dollar. In the surrounding villages there are many good options for accommodation and food with wonderful nature, good services and reasonable prices. There are many hiking trails and all hoteliers can arrange to have a guide at a low price. You can thus meet people from some local tribes and discuss their way of life.
Prefer the surrounding villages, anyway no attractions are inside Sapa.
Currency exchange is not very easy. ATMs only spoke Vietnamese, the bank only opened in the morning, and the currency exchange shop gave a much lower rate. For credit or debit card transactions they charged an additional 5%. Many attractions only accepted cash for the ticket.
In summary I recommend staying outside of Sapa and carrying enough cash.

Sapa is a well known tourist destination.
Sapa is a well known tourist destination. The Cable Car to Fansipan was really awesome. The Cable Cars are a bit expensive for Vietnam standards, but it's completely understandable considering the engineering used to build it. They are still much cheaper than ones I've been on other places in the world(Hong Kong, Gatlinburg USA, others).
The Glass Elevator/Bridge about 30 minutes drive from the city was an amazing experience and highly recommended.
Around the Sapa station area, we tried to sit and relax from walking around all day. Some street sellers dressed in ethnic outfits stood right next to us even after we said no several times. Even after we bought something, 2 more of them showed up and wanted us to buy more. After 10 minutes we had to leave, because we couldn't relax due to their aggressive selling.

Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension...
Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension cable cab. Buy the tickets one way to the summit, then walking down to visit all the pagodas. Bring along a warm coat, ears cover because the summit weather is unpredictable. The day we visited Fansipan, lowland temperature was 19 degree Celsius with clear sky and fully sunny, by the time we reached the summit around 11am. the temperature was dropped down to 2 degree Celsius with high wind and partial cloudy. Most Sapa villages have unpaved trail, be sure to purchase knee high waterproof boots at the Sapa main market if you plan to visit those villages during rainy season. Bring small Vietnamese currency such as 1000VND or 2000VND if you want to give out to the little kids beggar or for a chance to take a picture with them
The property is relatively new being on its 10th day of operation. The bed is one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on, pillows are nice and fluffy, sheets crispy white and towels soft and absorbent.
The owner Khanh ta is friendly, pleasant and accommodating. She helped us book our tour to Phang Xi Phan, bought our Vietnamese coffee and called our shuttle driver to Hanoi and gave directions to find the hotel.
Breakfast buffet is sufficient, tasty with healthy choices. Value for money
The hotel is one of the most stunning hotels we have been to in Vietnam. The design elements are truly fascinating. The breakfast was fantastic and the swimming pool is also simply fabulous.
You can really feel how it must have been in colonial times thanks to all the amazing design elements. It's a vibe!
Moreover, we came early with the night train from Hanoi and we were allowed to check in at 10:30 already, which we really appreciated.
Excellent hospitality. Staff were very friendly and professional. Good WiFi speed and connection and they serve really good breakfast (especially their yogurt and milk!) Tried their spa package with the traditional herb bath and Vietnamese massage and it's excellent! Masseuse were very attentive and professional, one of the best spa experience I have been to. Highly recommended to stay at this hotel if you are in Sapa!
Service was great. They speak English well and assisted us with everything that we needed including providing extra phone charger. The room had a great view. We enjoyed waking up every morning to see the panoramic mountain view right from the bed, and fresh cool air coming thru the wide open balcony throughout the day and night. The hotel location was a plus point as it was so near to Sun Plaza and Sapa Lake.
The view from our balcony was superb. We spent hours looking at the mountains, clouds and traffic down below.
The breakfast was the best we had in Vietnam. The food choices were endless and so fresh. Such a wide range of hot dishes, salads, sushi, fresh bread, yoghurt and even panacotta.
The bed was a little hard for my taste but perfect for my husband.
It was our favourite hotel from our trip.
This is the best hostel in entire Sapa.
The location is right at the center...I have never seen such beds and mattresses in a hostel. The owner has really put effort to make it the best. And the best part is it's not heavy on the pocket. I just paid 215k dong for 2 nights. They also provide free drinking water which is not the case in many hostels in Vietnam.
This was definitely the best hotel at our trip around Vietnam. Even the weather was cloudy in March, we made the best of it and did a hike. But, the best thing is to enjoy the incredible massage afterwards. We had a package with a coffee body scrub and it was so relaxing. Rooms were cosy and food was excellent. Last, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
This homestay is close to sapa station for Fansipan mountain and number of other must see attractions in Sapa as cat cat village .The rooms were clean and really comfy.
The host was really kind and helped us book bus to Hanoi and dropped us to bus stop. The view from room is serene. This hotel comes highly recommended by me for anyone visiting downtown.
My wife and I stayed at Sapa Soleil and ended up extending our stay because it was so nice. The hotel is only a few months old and everything still looks brand new. The staff goes above and beyond to help make sure your stay is memorable.
We took advantage of the restaurant, pool, and massage services during our stay and they were all top notch.
The breakfast was bad ,we only got a buffet breakfast if Vietnamese people were staying if not choice was very little. The room was lovely and cosy but had to move from 1st one because we booked a mountain view and all we where looking at was the hotel reception and restaurant why they put us there god knows at the hotel was empty
The staff were incredibly accommodating and so kind. In particular the front desk staff. The service we received in this hotel was outstanding. The hotel has stunning views and the rooftop pool was perfect for after long treks in the mountains and through the rice fields.
Best breakfast we had on our travels through Vietnam.
Really Nice hotel right in the middle of Sapa, lots of nice bars, restaurants and touristy things within walking distance. Room was comfy and clean and the staff were nice too. Had the Nicest breakfast in Vietnam thus far, really good.. Lovely mountain views from rooms too, really nice.
The hotel rooms are modern and clean. the staff were very friendly. The area is very remote perfect to see how life is really like in northern vietnam, close to Bamboo trail, several local restaurant in the town and only a 250k taxi to Sa Pa town when needed.
The BEST hotel in Vietnam. Wonderful western buffet breakfast. Rooms and bath very clean. It is a must if you want to visit Sapa. Also they provide us an upgrade for a bigger room. Kim is very kind with a perfect english and he helped with all tickets.
The hotel was brand New and the staff was really Nice.
Everyone was really polite and wanted us to have a good time. The place was beautiful.
We got upgraded to the best room we had i Vietnam wich was Nice.
The staff at En Hotel Sapa go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and cared for throughout their stay. Their warmth and attentiveness add an extra layer of comfort to the overall experience.
The best hotel I've been to in all of Vietnam. Amazing clean place. polished. Excellent and spacious rooms. I had a view of the mountain opposite. I will return to this hotel.
The family owned hotel is the best experience in whole Vietnam so far for as :)
They are perfectly prepared, organized and so kind.
We enjoyed our visit and would come again!
The location is great, the room, beautiful, the views from the rooftop, amazing. But the best was how Hieu and Viet treated us at reception. Best hotel so far in Vietnam
