We loved Tybee island.
We loved Tybee island. Tybee Island Beach is beautiful and the island is quaint. There are wonderful restaurants and local shops on the main strip and a nice local GPA grocery store. The island is not over commercialized and is family friendly. A great place to relax and take in the beautiful beach surroundings.

We like Tybee because it's a nice close beach - an easy 4hr drive. The food is good - recommend Chamacos and The Surfing Goat. And you could just easily drive in to Savanah for dinner if you wanted more variety - recommend Super Tastes on Charlotte Rd. for sushi. The beaches are full of families and the cost of public parking isn't bad. When we were younger and didn't have children we used to day-trip out to Tybee Island - a quick affordable beach for our budget then and now. We'll definitely keep coming back.

I like the beach the best.
I like the beach the best. We were on the end just as soon as you entered Tybee island. The beach felt like it was a private beach. Not to many on this side.
The other end of Tybee island by the pier was packed with people. So crowded.
But we did enjoy waking the pier and enjoyed eating at the Mexican restaurant , Agave.
Was still close to everything including driving back into Savannah , district.
We were out for total relaxation, which we did on the beach and the patio of our apt. At Beach racquet club .
We also walked around in our area which was only blocks from Tybean coffee. Loved this little place!
Our daily morning walk on the beach and around the neighborhood was lovely. Hot, but lovely.
Loved watching the shrimp boats come in and the dolphins swimming around too!

If you’re looking for something other than just laying on the beach, do not come here. Everything has changed and there are only ice cream shops and a few restaurants that serve the same exact thing-sandwiches and salads.

It was our first visit to Tybee Island, but I hope not the last! Everyone was really friendly. The beach was our main focus, and it was beautiful and clean. The whole place has a small town feel, which was so relaxing. Our kids on the trip loved being able to walk almost everywhere. We ate at Stingray's (my favorite), Fannie's, Pier 16, and The Crab Shack. Oh, and the pizza place, I think it's called Huckapoos. That pizza was really good!

Tybee Island is now my favorite place - and I don't often say that about every vacation spot. I was in desperate need for relaxation with my high-stress job. I wanted a lower-key location with something fun to do in the afternoons while I enjoyed early morning and late night walks and swims in the ocean. Tybee Island was perfect - I particularly enjoy the tip of the south end of the beach and going up the western side where it was quiet and I could watch wildlife. On my trip, I saw numerous birds, tiny crabs, horseshoe crabs, jellyfish, and a sting ray that one fisherman caught on the south shore! In the early mornings after sunrise, I would sometimes be the only person wandering along the southern tip, sometimes just a few others look for shells and wildlife like me.
For afternoon trips, I enjoyed visiting the island's lighthouse, making an excursion out to Fort Pulaski, and shopping in all of the cute small shops. There are so many ice cream and drink spots, and we ate seafood everyday at Sting Ray's. We wanted to try other places...but honestly, it was so good, right beside of our hotel, and we were so full afterward that it was nice to just collapse into bed! Additionally, there were two great breakfast spots in the south side of the island that were very affordable, and that had buffets if that was what you wanted.
The only thing I regret about this trip was that I made it for three nights, and honestly, I wish I had done at least one full week.
Room, beach and location were everything we hoped for. We were able to check in early and we could walk to the beach, shops and restaraunts in literally just a few minutes.
