Plainview is far from plain. It is a typical prairie town.

Plainview is far from plain. It is a typical prairie town. There are signs of financial struggle, and it is not big city fancy, but it is quiet, clean, friendly, and comfortable. It would be a great place to have a quiet get away where you just kick up your feet and relax. There are simple but nice little parks and Museums: Jimmy Dean Museum Museum of the Llano Estacado Malouf Abraham Family Art Center Plainview Bowling Center Contemporary Art Museum Plainview Joyland Amusement Park Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Legacy Play Village Lubbock Water Rampage Amarillo Botanical Gardens There is plenty for all to do, especially with young kids who still enjoy discovering their world and playing. Please support the Budget Inn. It is a clean, well maintained retro Motel. The price can't be beat and the most you would get anywhere else is just Fancy extras. For meals: check out the Cotton Gin Cafe. A little pricey but well worth it for GREAT home-style food and down-home atmosphere. Also, check out the McDonalds. It is the best I've ever seen. It is very clean, has comfortable seating, localized whimsical decor, and great service. They even have HOT tea! That's a novelty in itself.

We moved our two special needs daughters into a house in downtown Plainview. There are very few small cities in Texas that have decent neighborhoods for low income families within a walkable mile radius of grocery stores, a Walmart, hospital, doctor offices, churches and social services offices, which is important for people who do not drive. Bus service is not even required! The population has remained around 20,000 for the past decade, much smaller than its heydey, but it feels stable and safe, and both people and pet friendly. There are lots of small parks, old buildings and some brick streets, and a Baptist College. The climate is not too hot or cold or wet, and there are good restaurants as well, such as the Cotton Patch.

Plainview is situated roughly half way between Amarillo and Lubbock, TX. If you need a place to stay that is out of the City hustle, but still need quick access to both, this is the place. Where they may lack in some of the larger city amenities, you won't find better people or an overall friendliness that is unmatched.

Small town, West Texas - wide open spaces.

Small town, West Texas - wide open spaces. Wayland University is there and offers a great museum; restaurants are numerous enough; it is a small town trying to keep the town vibrant. The Jimmy Dean museum is a plus. Of course, Leal's is the best Mexican food anywhere; it is close enough to Lubbock, Canyon or Amarillo an option for a day trip; the Caprock Canyons State Park, and The Palo Duro Canyon are close.

We were there for a friend's daughter's quinceñera! We didn't get to explore the city but the venue it took place was very nice. Lots of landmarks to take family pictures. Plainview seems small everything we needed was close by to each other.

I've stayed at Days Inn before, and it always met my expectations. The rooms are always comfortable. The staff are always friendly, and helpful. I could not ask for a better place to stay, and will always stay there when I am in Plainview. As always, June was pleasant, and took the time to talk to me during her work. I've always enjoyed my conversations with her. She always makes my stay as if I were visiting family. It's like I'm coming home.

This trip we had pets, and it was one of the few places that was pet friendly. And even though it was one of the least expensive motels and by no means fancy, it was well maintained and a pleasant stay. We also stayed there last month and will again next week. The IHop next door is also an easy walk.

I liked being on the first floor, in fact, the first room. The only drawback is that I was told the hotel is still under remodeling and as a result, there was not a closet in my room. However, a laundry rack was provided to hang my clothes. GREAT BREAKFAST SELECTION!!! THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD.
