Edisto Island was fine, loved the local cuisine, walking on the beach, liked it is not commercialized. if you want to get away from 'civilization' as we know it, good place to go. shopping pricey, but that's to be expected. went to museum, bookstore, general store (best place to get tshirts) ice cream/candy store. Just do not use booking.com & stay in a house there, or go directly thru company to book a villa.

Being from the Charleston area, I have been familiar with Edisto island for most of my life. It has not grown very much in any regard except for the presence of rental property. This influx of wealth has in no way generated better business in the area, with a few small, poorly stocked and staffed, aging stores being the only source of food or medicine. The island itself is in good condition and easily accessible.
