This was a quick stopover, so we didn't get time to visit many of the sights in the area - a two night stop would have been better, so we could have spent a day exploring Canyon de Chelly National Monument.

Canyon de Chelly is one of the most beautiful canyons in the Southwest. It has a special quality to it that's hard to capture with words. I would call it transcendent. It doesn't attract the hordes of tourists that the Grand Canyon does, so you can really find a quiet place along the rims and feel one with Mother Earth and the ancient ones. A visit there is restorative.

Go and see the sights!
Go and see the sights! We have yet to take a guided tour but, we will on our next trip. The scenery is breathtaking, insightful and humbling. So many different locations to drive and explore on your own. I recommend the Thunderbird Lodge for food, although Junction is delicious, Thunderbird was the group favorite. Be respectful of the wonderful people who live and work here. It is beautiful but it will only stay that way if the visitors (like myself and fellow travelers) don't mess it up.

The Canyon de Chelly is absolutely stunning. Mesmerizing. I have to admit that I was ignorant of the history of the Navajo and it was an eye opening experience to learn what happened there. We hope to return when we can take a tour of the canyon floor. Not much going on restaurant wise in Chinle but the Basha's grocery store has a good selection.

I have been all over Arizona and I believe this area is THE most spectacular! The views, every where you look are breathtaking. So many old ruins to explore, caves to enter and history to learn. Visiting here is like a trip back in time, before people threw trash everywhere.

Canyon de Chelly is better than I expected, although many of the rim drive (north and south forks) were closed and the information available through the National Park Sevice in cooperation with the Navajo nation management was non-existent, never updated to reflect partial closures. That said, the property itself was almost devoid guests, and we rather enjoyed the privacy and quiet that a very lightly occupied property afforded. Chinle itself has little to offer, but the canyon itself is fascinating and invites much more exploration and time than our two day allotment allowed. This is off the beaten path, and hopefully will stay that way.
This was a very nice stay; I’ve paid much more for much less at other locations. Friendly service, clean and quiet room, the hot sit down breakfast was much better than a regular breakfast buffet. Chinle is a small town and this hotel is a nice comfy oasis I’m glad I chose it here over the Best Western (although we did eat a fun dinner at their Junction restaurant). Oh the gift shop here is cute too!
much more authentic to the area than a standard Holiday Inn. The place was hosting a community graduation celebration in the courtyard with families and it was wonderful to see. Families enjoying each other and celebrating their children’s success. Very close to Canyon de Chelly Information Center and entrance to the National Park.
There is a restaurant in the hotel parking lot that was great! Not many food options in Chinle but this restaurant had the market cornered for locals and tourists - FYI get there early before 6 pm because it is popular. Clean big hotel room really close to Canyon de Chelly.
Great hotel with a bit of character. Room was very comfortable and had been updated with charging stations. Location was great, walking distance to meet our tours of the canyon. It was nice to be able to park right in front of the room.
Convenient stop-over whilst visiting National Parks in the area. Room and bed comfortable, with table and two chairs. Shower good. Plenty of parking. Restaurant on site, but separate from hotel itself.
After walking to the front desk,, the hotel attendant was very gracious and moved us to a room across the hall. This room was comfortable, cleaner, better view, and didn't smell.
Perfect spot for our one night stay, maybe we should have booked for 2 nights. So nice to see an older hotel that has been kept in excellent condition, why only a 2 star rating.
Our room was quiet and comfortable, and the entire hotel operation was very professional. The guided tour of the canyon floor was fantastic - the highlight of our visit!
The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very good. We ate there both days--great service too. The location was perfect for visiting the National Monument.
