The hotel is beautiful. The staff were very responsive and helpful going out of their way. Having access to the huge jacuzzi bath after long days walking was wonderful. The location is a 5 to 10 min walk to the main street through a pretty neighbourhood, I'm disabled and could manage it everyday multiple times. You have access to a common area which was empty most of the time. WiFi was fast. Check in was easy and when we had to contact to innkeeper, she responded within seconds. She let me use facilities that were not public and sent me restaurants that could cater to my allergies. She let us know about a local tour we might be interested in and was all round a legend of an innkeeper.

We've been coming to Ashland yearly for the past 30+ years.
We've been coming to Ashland yearly for the past 30+ years. The OSF (Oregon Shakespeare Festival) has a superb reputation and great theatre with a combination of Shakespeare and non-Shakespeare, modern and traditional plays. Something for everyone.
Apart from the stellar theatre company, Ashland has superb restaurants, Lithia Park, a great book store, and nature all around.

Ashland is home to Southern Oregon University and OSF, giving a small college town ambience.
Many tasty restaurants scattered around town of various price ranges.
Multiple shops carrying many different kinds of merchandise; most shop keepers are exceedingly welcoming to their stores. We always return home with more than we brought with us.

Visiting friends and the small town vibe for sure.
Visiting friends and the small town vibe for sure. Plenty of lovely people with great attitudes. Ashland is very small (I like quaint) I would love to visit again. I did not have a chance to visit the nearby parks but I will when I return.

Ashland is beautiful.
Ashland is beautiful. A leisurely walk down Siskiyou Avenue is a pleasure. Parking is tricky, but once you find a space, keep it for as long as you can. We found a free spot & stayed for hours near the theaters. Restaurants, art galleries, casual & upscale shopping are all in walking distance of the theaters at the OSF. The proprietors of the stores are nice to tourists and are happy to give advice if you need some.
They also have a great Goodwill store for my fellow thrifters!

What ruined our stay in Ashland was where we stayed.
What ruined our stay in Ashland was where we stayed. We made reservations through Booking.com at Stratford Inn. We were given a ADA room even though I specifically chose a non-ADA room. I explained to them I did not make reservations for an ADA room and requested to be moved. I was told the hotel was full and that is what Booking.com showed for our reservation. She also explained that when using Booking.com there is no guarantee of the room you’re going to get. She suggested that next time I should call the hotel directly. I already did a review a few weeks ago of the hotel stay through Booking.com. Booking.com must have contacted the hotel because the hotel wrote to me saying I could have asked to be moved (which I did ask, but had been told the hotel was full!). So I guess I won’t be using Booking.com anymore!
Great location in town (in walking distance to the city center and most restaurants). The whole hotel is Shakespeare-themed which gives it a unique touch. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Recommended!
Unless you recognize the name, you wont know that this property is an iconic Ashland institution. I'm happy we decided on the place, and even happier that the property is now doing well.
