Wonderful location just next to beach. Nice swimming pool and hammocks in a shaded area. Clean, spacious rooms with good air conditioning, mosquito nets and staff who treated the room to get rid of insects. The restuarant has a lovely view over the beach and sea, and staff were generally attentive and helpful.

So many positive things to say about our stay at Alladin Beach Hotel, everything about our stay was perfect, firstly the staff, all of them fantastic always available to help, always with a friendly smile, Leigh and her team made our stay so memorable! The room certainly had an amazing sea view, the hotel is right on the beach with uninterrupted views across the Indian Ocean. Every day we enjoyed watching the local fisherman head out in their boats and the women out into the lagoon, each day the local children would be playing on the beach, something we loved watchibg. The food at the hotel was first class, from breakfast through to snacks and evening meals. We enjoyed the Spa and also a couple of day trips including swimming with dolphins which was fantastic. This was a special holiday for my wife & I celebrating our 25th anniversary and our stay at Alladin ensured it was a holiday we will always remember!! Thanks to Leigh and the team.

It’s very quiet, very few non hotel restaurants, overpriced food everywhere, can’t swim in the sea unless you don’t mind knee deep water. There’s no town, or town centre outside the beach hotels, so a long stay would be challenging if you want more than just lounging by the hotel pool.

Matemwe and its area is a quiet place where you can relax and enjoy the beach, the activities (snorkeling, swimming with dolphins) especially if you are a couple, because the village is not very full of enterteinments or night parties.

Crystal clear water - despite there being sea urchins - if you have rock/ aqua shoes - you can still swim and explore the waters and reefs.
The beaches are a lot quieter and peaceful than the busier beaches up north.
The tides are also fascinating to watch- you can walk out to the reefs and cycle along the beaches when they go out!

Marafiki gets a 10/10 from us on all fronts - breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool, cleanliness, hospitality, music, sustainability, beach, communication.
My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Marafiki after our Safari and had the most fabulous time. The rooms were very clean and quiet, and beautifully set up.
The food is exceptional - please try the tuna tartar and all the specials!
We had a relaxing time at the spa - you must try the full body scrub and massages.
We used the free kayaks during sunset and enjoyed the stunning view from the water. The water is shallow so even if you go far, you can get off the kayak and swim.
Since the hotel is east facing - sunrise is exceptionally beautiful. The water is still and shallow, and you can see all the fisherman walk up to the reef to catch the fish.
The hotel also arranged a cooking lesson in Matamwe village for us - we learned how to cook ‘muchuzi’ from scratch which was a very meaningful experience.
Overall- no negatives. We had the best time and will be back!

The beach is beautiful, but it's not really a beach you can swim on - there's a big tidal range - when it comes in it's quite choppy with lots of seaweed, and when it's out its corally with lots of urchins. But it's interesting to watch the local people looking for octopus and shellfish every day.
It's quite a quiet area - all the bars are part of hotels. A few nice local restaurants around. Quite a lot of beach touts, which we found off putting. Not loads of activities to do in the area - 1/2 day snorkelling/dolphin watching trips at Mnemba Island basically.
It was a good experience staying at Kena Beach Hotel. Beautiful location right in front of Matemwe beach. This is the perfect place to take a break from everyday life and relax.
The room was big and clean, fully equipped with all amenities, and with a private patio with garden view.
The staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable.
The guided reef walk offered by the hotel is highly recommended!!!
I would love to come back to Kena Beach Hotel one day.
We had booked for 3 nights and stayed for a week when our plans went wrong. The staff were so kind to us and helped us in a time of need. The hotel itself is beautiful. We had previously had a few nights at a busy area so this was perfect to be away from everything. It was very calm and the rooms and pools were beautiful. The beach is pretty much private due to the position of the hotel. We felt like this was the ‘Zanzibar’ we had imagined. We would stay here again.
All I can is wow! The resort exceeded my expectations, the location is great, the beaches are clean and white, the food is great and you never go hungry or thirsty, all needs are met, and the rooms and the resort are kept well, and clean. The staff are very friendly and all your needs are attended too. They have the best service ever seen in any hotel! There is ample resort activities
This was a wonderful and relaxing end of my trip in Tanzania. The hotel has all facilities to relax. It is located right at the beach of Matemwe where you can walk, swim and have close access to Mnemba island for diving or snorkeling. The food was every single day amazing!
