We usually stay in smaller and more local B&B’s, but they were hard to find in Konya. So we ended up staying in the Bera Hotel. It’s an slightly older hotel, but the facilities and the tidiness were nevertheless very good! The beds are one of the best we slept in during our trip through Turkey. Breakfast is served in a buffet with so many different options. There’s even a lady baking fresh lavash bread, stuffed with spinach, potatoes or cheese. It’s located a bit outside’s the heart of the city, about 15 minutes walk to Alladin Hill and 30 minutes of walking to Mevlana square. You can always take a tram back home to Alladin station and walk the last bit.
Just 100 metres from the Mevlana Museum and Tomb in Konya, Rumi Hotel offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. Facilities include a gym and a Turkish bath.

Konya is not really on the tourist trail. It is a long coach ride or an infrequent flight. Nobody spoke English but Google Translate helped a bit. The town is quite conservative with most things shut by 10pm.
Tram from the out of town bus station was frequent and cheap at 13 lira August 2024. 30 minutes to centre. You need a tram card costing 20 lira from the tram stop plus a top up for fares. The machine has instructions in Turkish only and it was not possible to guess which buttons to press. Credit cards and cash. First time use was very difficult and frustrating. Airport yellow taxi 670 lira 30 minutes to centre.
Kule tram stop for a large shopping mall. Another shopping area is at south side of Alaadin Park.
The main sites are the Mevalna Museum in the centre beside a new outdoor pedestrian precinct of shops. A tram stop further are the IRFA Centre and the Mevlana Cultural Centre. Both have the Sema dance - whirling dervishes. IRFA is nightly times vary around 21.00 lasting an hour costing 20 euros each. A small venue with 7 dervishes so you can be close to them. I found no information on their website. The same service also takes place opposite at the Mevlana Cultural Centre. This is a very large auditorium about 1500 seats. Service begins at 19.00 on Saturdays. 100 lira each. 24 dervishes plus a local choir and orchestra so a greater spectacle.

My family recently spent a day in Konya, Turkey, and it was an experience that will stay with us for a long time. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the city's unique blend of history, culture, and modern charm. Our day in Konya was a perfect blend of exploring magnificent architecture, indulging in the vibrant bazaar, and immersing ourselves in the city’s rich history and culture. Even though we stayed for only a day, the memories and experiences we gathered will remain with us forever. Konya is a city that has something to offer for everyone, and we can’t wait to visit again and explore even more of its treasures.

Very large bazaar area.
Very large bazaar area. Tons of restaurants and famous local cuisine. The Rumi museum was great. Friendly people! Just wish I would have known the intimate "sufi brethren dance cellar culture". Would have loved to see authentic sufi dance culture in a intamete setting with turkish folk music. The big and formal sema-ritual-format is not at all as interesting...

The old parts of Konya are beautiful.
The old parts of Konya are beautiful. The new parts are interesting. This city feels very traditional and profoundly Turkish. Very little globalisation and not much English spoken here. It is very different from Istanbul or Ankara - it is slower and less frantic than its urban counterparts. Religion obviously plays a big part in this culture, but stick to the rules, show respect, and you are welcome everywhere. The mosques and the monuments are beautuful, but so too are the markets and bazaars. Prices are very reasonable, so good food and bargains are not hard to find.

Konya is a huge city, depending of what you are looking for, you have to chose you area wisely. There is plenty of country side and beautiful scenery, but a long drive from where we were if you are planning to find nightlife or entertainment it might be difficult. The area we were in, we visited some restaurants, food is good, but most of them you cannot consume alcohol. so if you plan to go out after a days work and have a drink you can forget it.

I went to Konya to attend Mevlana's death anniversary and enjoyed it a lot. Significant experience with the food, people, architecture, everything. It was a spiritual trip, so I greatly enjoyed the city.
It's easy to get around, and the bus/tram connection is excellent. You can buy a city card, top it up, and move around.
It had terrific world-best falafel and hummus opposite Shah Shames Tabreez's tomb—a must-visit place.
Great and affordable grill and other food options near Azizyea 🕌 mosque inside old streets of Konya.
I visited Sille, a beautiful historic village only 30 minutes by bus from Konya city center.
Selçuk Hotel is right in the heart of Konya, therefore, it is a perfect starting point to discover the city. Due to the tram connection, it was also easy to reach it either from the train or the bus station. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff was really kind and hospitable. The room looked just like on the pictures; it was big enough with comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic, they offered a wide variety of cheese, olives, jam etc. - we could have a proper Turkish breakfast with fresh simit as well. We would gladly return.
We enjoyed our stay at Rumi Hotel, Manager and all staff were cooperative and the Location was Awesome. We will recommend everyone to start there if you are in Konya. All the Important locations were within walking distance and the best part was there is a market which is cheaper than the whole of Turkey, No one can meet the price of that market.
I really admire Manager who helped me to plan my day and in other transport as well
This is a lovely boutique hotel that is run exceptionally well.
Professional and helpful staff. Excellent food. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. Lots of thoughtful little touches everywhere around the hotel.
Superb in every respect. We simply didn't want to leave. If we visit Konya again, we know where we will be staying.
Hotel was just 10 minutes drive from Konya YhT fast train station. Staff was very helpful and overall really good value for money.
Breakfast was very nice and lots of variety. Reception staff helped to order food late night.
During my recent travel in 4 cities of Turkey, I found this an excellent place to stay. The variety of food items in the breakfast really made me happy. The location of this hotel is great.
