The landlord was delightful. When I arrived, he provided me with a map and several brochures on how to get around the city. He informed me of places that foreigners like to visit and then provided me with times available for visiting various sites. The hotel also has arrangements with shuttle buses to many of the major tourist destinations outside of the city limits, and the landlord made sure to inform me of this as well. Daily cleaning service is available for the rooms, and the bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in my almost 40 years of existence. I also love that there's a patio with tables and a counter that look almost like a setup for an upscale cafe. Bring your own drinks from a local coffee bar and you can enjoy the patio as if it were a cafe! Microwave is also available!
At the end of my trip, the landlord was so kind as to drive me back to the bus stop where I would depart from the city! No charge whatsoever for this service!
I really enjoyed my stay at Le Neuf, and can honestly that it provided one of the best overall hotel experiences I've had in Thailand overall (As of this writing, I've lived in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Chiang Dao, and Lamphun!)! If you visit Lampang, please stay at this hotel! Tell the landlord that "Todd sent me!"

We like the location of this property. It's easy to find and access from major streets/roads. The staffs were friendly and polite. Safety and security were great as guests and visitors are required to have a key card to enter the hallways/stairways/elevator(s). There were plenty of available parking spots and most importantly there were a few spots for disable persons.

The best feature is the old town close to the Arts Center...
The best feature is the old town close to the Arts Center with many original wooden houses. The street market is low key, not overtly touristy and showed some local crafts alongside the usual Chiang Mia stuff. The riverside bars and restaurants have good views but the river itself is a disappointment. This ancient city also has many temples.

The Ceramics factories were interesting as were the temples in the city. Then there is the old city wall, railway station , and museum to visit . And a very old house .
Best to hire a car. Public transport not so good.

Other than Kad Kong Ta Walking Street (Saturday & Sunday...
Other than Kad Kong Ta Walking Street (Saturday & Sunday only), several Wats / Temples and a couple museums there didn’t seem to be a lot to see in town. The better attractions seemed to be 30 minutes or more outside of town. We enjoyed eating at "Which Wat Pastry", it's a bit out of the way but has great food and pastries at very reasonable prices. Almost next door to Which Wat is "Grandma's Cafe", we didn't eat there but enjoyed viewing the owner's car collection directly behind the cafe. If you don't have your own transportation and don't want to do an organized tour hiring a taxi for the day at 1000 baht is a good idea. Be careful of the songthaews, we discovered they don't always know where you want to go even though they tell you they do.

Lampang is a very laid back friendly northern town. Not many western tourist there. Food excellent. Plenty temples to see. Only 1 hour from Chiang Mai. Everything extremely good value. Local people friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the old part of the city.
We stayed in the old part of the city. So much character and lovely old buildings of architectural interest. Good restaurants and coffee shops, the ones we particularly liked were Long Jim's Pizzeria, Riverside Restaurant and Chito Coffee House. Great night markets Especially loved the decorated horse-drawn carriages. Songtaews were easy to get around with standard fare of 20bt.
Lovely friendly check-in experience, the room was very nice, clean, and comfortable, and a good shower. Great location, a short walk from the centre of Lampang, and car parking included under the hotel. For the price paid, an absolute bargain.
Charming old house with a fantastic view of the river. 2 minutes walk to the best night market we have been to in Thailand, loved it!
