Good location right on the river (I was in the annexe building on the other side of the road to the main hotel). Reasonable sized room, quiet and a good breakfast (in the main building). Good value for money.

The setting was beautiful and peaceful. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Her cooking was exceptionally good and she always explained what was to eat before cooking. We will definitely be going back again next year.

Amazing small boutique hotel. Great food made with love! Nice setting. Everything from outstanding quality and beauty!
Acceptable for one night. You need a car to get to the hotel. The rooms are not soundproof. Quite loud from the traffic. The hotel is located directly on the main street. The breakfast is not bad and with good coffee to make yourself with a coffee machine.

The shower head was to 50% clogged, and the water was deflected sideways splashing all over. This was the case in both the rooms I had booked!
The TV remote control did not work, as the batteries inside were corroded and bloated badly.

Chiang Saen was the first city in Thailand and some of the old walls remain. Scattered all around are the remains of old temples which are mostly marked with information boards. There are basic bicycles provided free to cycle around the town and the ruins. It is not a busy place and the cycling is safe. The Mokong River forms one border of the city and is also forms the border between Laos and Thailand. It is a major waterway and the activities going on are interesting to watch. The city has a relaxed atmosphere and the people quite friendly to visitors. Lots of coffee shops and a few restaurants. The Golden Triangle is a few km away by road and a little further is the hall of Opium museum which is well done and more interesting than perhaps the name suggests. About 7km away is Chaing Saen lake, a site for bird watching and with small villages to drive/cycle through. Probably 2/3 days is enough time to experience Chiang Saen but it is nice and relaxing and you may enjoy visiting more than once.

The hotel is located outside the center of the town near the wall. We chose it so that it would be quiet. The rooms are fine with hot water and air conditioning. Breakfast was fine. Price is also good for what we got.
We had food at a restaurant recommended by the hotel and that was a good choice. We wanted to visit the wall, wat Phra That Chedi Luang and Chiang Saen National museum. They were worth the visit.

Oldest Thai town in Thailand, founded a thousand years ago.
Oldest Thai town in Thailand, founded a thousand years ago. Many very ancient temples, some with great views of Mekong river. Boat trips along Mekong river to Golden triangle and Laos market. Walled city - walk around walls interesting and beautiful.
I traveled with my husband, in-laws, and a dog, and we were all amazed with the beauty and peacefulness of the hotel. The beautiful grounds with a lake view, the spacious well decorated cottages, the friendly host that shared her knowledge of the region with us, the great breakfast with homemade bread, pet friendly and a nice pool. This is a well taken care of small hotel with only 7 cottages in a quiet area. There are a restaurant and cafe nearby, and the hotel will cook for you if previously arranged,
Located right next to the Mekong River, and be sure to get a room facing the river so you can watch sunrises, definitely the reason to choose this hotel. The hotel can use an update and the shower needs more pressure, but I had a pleasant stay. You can borrow bikes for free, and ride the 10k to the Golden Triangle/Opium Museum or the 3k to the Skywalk. They can help arrange transport to/from Chiang Rai airport/city. The bed and breakfast is good and the staff is helpful.
This peaceful gem is lovingly designed and tended by the talented Kham. Bright, spotless comfortable bungalows fringe an exquisite garden. The most comfy, luxurious bed awaits you here. Fabulous breakfasts and hand crafted multi course gourmet dinners are not to miss highlights….convenient to golden triangle sites, this ecolodge is a great alternative to the other big commercial properties in the region. Book this now, you are in for a treat!
This is a great, well priced little hotel in the beautiful town of Chiang Saen. Rooms are very spacious and mine had beautiful touches like a hand painted mirror and a traditional Thai seat. The staff were very helpful. The hotel has free bikes which are great for whizzing round the temples and ruins. I would definitely return here if I visit Chiang Saen again.
The hotel rooms were large and clean. The mattresses were very comfortable. There was a soccer table game and a Billard table for the children to play. Another bonus was the free usage of the bicycles. The hotel faces the Mekong River and it was very relaxing to sit by the river.
The buffet has a good spread of food. Staffs were friendly and helpful.
Lovely guesthouse facing Chiang Saen Lake. The garden is spectacular populated with cats and peacocks! The owners are super kind, they offered me one of the best beef curry I had in Thailand, also they helped me planning my tour in motorbike. I spent one more day here because I loved this place. Hopefully I will be back.
Pietro.
I really love the atmosphere of the hotel, very peacful. It is cozy with beautiful decoration! It is fully furnished, very clean, great location nearby the lake, especially for watching wonderful sunset. Breakfast is amazingly delicious! The host and staff are so nice. I really had a great time! I will come back again.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is a little outside the centre of the village, but you can reach the centre by walking for 10 minutes. Not far. The staff are helpful but do not speak English. The room looks old but clean and spacious. In the morning you can get toast, jam and coffee.
Great location in town and across from the river. The night market was excellent and just down the street. The room was spacious with a refrigerator and tv. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast (additional cost) included a western, Thai or Northern Thai choice and was very good. We would stay again!
Clean and comfortable for a short stay. Included breakfast was very good, cooked to order eggs were the best I’ve had so far in Thailand, coffee was fresh ground and tasted great. They are located on the river, have a pool, a snooker table and bicycles. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
The location across from the river on the main road was perfect. From our balcony we had a view of the Songkran festival across the street. Bicycles they gave us enabled us to ride to the Golden Triangle Opium museum- a pleasant route with a bike path the whole way.
Good location right on the river (I was in the annexe building on the other side of the road to the main hotel). Reasonable sized room, quiet and a good breakfast (in the main building). Good value for money.
Everything! Our host Yim was wonderful, felt like a good friend. The hotel is more a resort, beautiful green garden with peacocks. Breakfast was yummy. Room comfortable. We hope to return!
I liked watching the Mekong River flow by and watching for boats float past. We were on our way up to the Golden Triangle and this was a nice quiet place to stop along the way.
The staff were so helpful and accommodating.
Breakfast was super
Hotel generally, was so well laid out and was exceptionally clean.
I would highly recommend
Good location and very clean with helpful staff... Good car parking.
Certainly for a reasonably priced hotel it did not pretend to be something it was not
