Kranj is perfectly positioned city. It is very close to highway, it is close to mountains (25min from ski resort) and is only 2h drive from the sea.
It has beautiful old town.
The capital, Ljubljana is only 30min drive.

Beautiful town, especially historical part of the city. It's interesting how historical town is surrounded by two rivers, and it makes a green oasis in the middle of the town. Food is amazing, special recommendation for Gostilna Kot for local food and Das ist Walter for bosnian cuisine.
The location of the city is perfect for exploring Slovenia.

I have visited Slovenija many times, but for some reason I missed Kranj. What a lovely little old city, that houses many artists, poets, painter, writers, etc. I hope to return post-Covid when I can experience their musical performances, art exhibits etc. Kranj is a unknown little gem. One or two days should be spent there.

Kranj is a charming little town, with an old city centre and a natural gorge in the middle of the town.
You can explore it with a walk, there are plenty of different restaurants and bars in the pedestrian zone.
At the end there is a lookout but only for brave people without fear of deepness, it is really scaring because of glass borders.

One of those Central European towns that fell on hard times...
One of those Central European towns that fell on hard times after the fall of communism/socialism, but is now picking itself up. The old town has many interesting buildings and an unusual geographic layout on top of a hill.
Staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The hotel is located in the old town centre. Kranj is nice in a quiet way but might be a bit too quiet for some. The old town is pretty albeit clearly in need of some revitalisation. It is definitely well located for day trips into the Alps as well as to the famous caves in the south of Slovenia.
There are interesting little galleries (mostly free) and the castle museum is well presented and worth seeing. The town seems to be full of nice people who enjoy a chat.
The Hotel is very classy, the breakfast was superb, lots of choice & great service, the bed is extremely comfortable, the bathroom is new, clean & fashionable. The room was big and had a great balcony. Everything is digital (air conditioner, door, lights etc)
They provide free entry to the park next-by.
The location looks far in the map, but it's only 16 min from Bled and 26 min from Ljubljana.
The best hotel we stayed in Slovenia, and we tried 10 different ones. Best ratio value-money.
We spent there only one night as it was a stop on our way, but the experience was great. It's a beautifully located guesthouse run by very nice people. It's a standard of a decent hotel (there is even a mini-bar in the room). Clean room, comfortable mattress, very tasty breakfast. And the water pressure in the shower was Niagara level. We even joked that it's clear now why all other showers in Slovenia seem to have poor water pressure - it is because this one is using it all.
The house is amazing, the best part is the terrace with an amazing view, BBQ, and hot tub. A tranquil oasis, the house is all new appliances, spacious and clean. We were all amazed and excited to have picked such a great house. I would recommend a stay here. It is a short ride from the center and also a great location to explore Slovenia. Not to forget the host is very accommodating and quick to respond. Overall 10/10!
I needed a place to stay in Kranj for one night. I arrived tired, after a full day of travel. I was greeted by the owner and he immediately made me feel very welcome. I later had dinner there and it was delicious. The establishment is a well appointed rustic hotel. It's a hidden gem that all travelers will quickly appreciate. I liked it so much that I'll be returning for 2 more nights next week!
Hotel was very clean and room was very spacious. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The location couldn't be beat as you walk out right into the town square. The hotel was quiet however I was there in November. The free parking was easy and wide enough to navigate. The breakfast was really good and well prepared. I would not hesitate one bit to stay there again. Its a great deal!!
The hosts are very friendly and always eager to help us and make us feel welcomed in their property. The breakfast was very nice and unique. I would really recommend staying here especially if you want to visit many sides in Slovenia because it is in the middle and you can have access everywhere
Elegant little inn. Very good value. Nice alternative to staying in Ljubljana. Nearby Kranj is very cute. Hotel tries very hard - owner has a nice eye for design, from hotel to breakfast offerings and staff really caters to the guest very nicely. Will likely return.
The staff was super friendly and had great recommendations of what to do around the city. The dorm room was spacious for an 8 bed dorm. It was in the center of Kranj and very close to a bus stop. It over looked a river.
