The staff were friendly. When we arrived we were given a glass of the local brandy which was a nice touch. The rooms were quirky, interesting and comfortable. The breakfast was good and it was fun having our evening meal in the cellar with a roaring fire.

It is an extraordinary experience for those who want to break away from the hustle and bustle of super-technological everyday life and charge their batteries. The cabin is isolated, you can observe wild life (I saw some deer and a bear not even 100 meters away). But you have to know how to light the fire in the stove, to prepare your own meals, to enjoy it by candlelight and not be dependent on high-speed internet to taste this experience.

A bit outside the city, we loved visiting the extinct volcano (super spectacular!) and the fortress was also interesting if you enjoy history. Lacul de smarald (Emerald Lake) is really green and worth visiting.
The Reformed Church in Talisoara was quite welcoming and worth visiting if you speak Hungarian…
Would have enjoyed visiting some of the traditional workmen/artisans as offered, but we came over the Easter holiday so we will have to make another visit. :)

Baraolt - or rather the surrounding area is worth seeing for the natural landscapes, near there are "Cheile Varghisului", where you can explore & enjoy nature safely, there are bridges over the river Varghis to be crossed and caves to be discovered, endles . You can also find the beautiful castles nearby: Daniel Castle in Talisoara and Kalnoky Castle in Miclosoara.
