The room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The AC worked nicely and made the room cool in the summer heat. There were tea/coffee facilities. For the price of the stay you get access to the indoor and outdoor pools.

Our stay at this house was nothing short of perfect – we couldn’t have imagined a better place for our trip. The location is ideal, the house is situated pretty much in the middle between Transalpine and Transfăgărășan so it is the perfect place to choose if you want to explore both of these iconic roads. It’s located on the hill so the view of the mountains is awesome. It’s the perfect place to just relax because of the quiet, peaceful surroundings, yet it’s still just a 15-minute drive to the nearest city and markets if you need anything.
The inside of the house was just as impressive as the outside! The design is beautiful - raw wood furniture is really nice and it adds a cozy, rustic touch to everything. Both the bed and sofa were super comfortable. And the hammock chair? It was my personal favorite. I spent hours on it, just reading books and relaxing!
While the house itself is remarkable, the experience was made even better by the host. We couldn’t have asked for a more thoughtful and attentive person! The owner was super, super nice, always ready to help, responding quick and making sure our stay was the best as it could be! He made sure we had everything we needed and recommended us a salt mine to visit - if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t know this place existed. He made the whole stay even better :)
This place really exceeded all our expectations, and we can’t wait to return!!

In Romania, the word Băile implies a spa town. The most famous spa towns in Romania are Băile Herculane, Băile Felix, Mangalia, Covasna, Călimănești & Borsec.
Romania has hundreds of non-descript small spa towns - few of which get overseas visitors.
Băile Olanesti is not one of the grand Spa Towns - but is one of the many far smaller affairs with old communist era hotels and guest houses and a certain amount of dilapidation in the surroundings; witness the ruined hotels, broken windows and crumbling pavements.
In the days before locals could travel far they were important holiday destinations for the workers.
In summer they still fill up with local families on a cheap break. The swimming pool with its water slides is packed to bursting and the evenings brings everyone out to promenade the streets, meet, smoke and have a drink. In July 2024 Băile Olanesti was packed full and busy - even if the big hotels had spare room.
So why come here? Well I stayed above the spa town, in a village called Pietrișu. Take a look at the clip from Google Maps to see why - it is at the end of the road (actually a mud/earth/loose stone track) that leads to huge beech forests and a few scattered farms.
The place was peaceful - precisely because it was so hard to reach even with your own car (the single track road is a challenge to a 4x4) with masses of wildlife.
My experience of a month's travel in 2024 is that many of the nicest places we stayed were like this - hard to reach and certainly left out of even the backpackers' guidebooks.

A clean and easy to walk around little city.
A clean and easy to walk around little city. What we found hard to find, was a great place to eat, the personnel was not rude, but not overly excited that we were there, except for Stogu, were we felt welcomed.

We liked the place we're we stayed for the night-Cabana Vânătorilor, it was a very quiet and beautiful place.
We were taking dinner at Europa restaurant, and good food and affordable prices.
It easy to get around Băile Olănești.
The location is recommended for the terapeutic springs that are located there, for relaxation and for escaping the big towns and enjoy the fresh air.

Very nice spa town, The air is fresh and clean, you have plenty of walking paths in nature, but also you have many restaurants and facilities in the town. Is a relaxing place where you can spend time and can do lot of activities.
Excellent location. Free parking although it s small and busy we managed to find a spot everyday. It s an old communist hotel that s been partially refurbished and exceed my expectation in both comfort and value for money. We had dinner twice and food was good. Not many choices for breakfast. Bathroom is small but functional. Room is clean and very quiet. Overall a good experience. Lady from reception was very helpful and friendly. Olanesti is nice area and parks are very clean.
Pretty well located, in the center of the town. You get exactly what you expect for the value, it's pretty cheap, so don't expect that much :). But its clean, you have all the facilities advertised , clean sheets , clean towels.
I think this is a location suited for either people that need just one night, passing through , or elderly that look for a cheap but still ok hotel, for a longer stay , say 7 days or more.
Nice place very close to the central park and river. Small but good enough room with comfort bed, private bathroom, cabinet, and even fridge, but we didn't use it. There are common kitchen and also microwave and coffee machine. Very nice balconies to have relax. I staid one week with my son 8 years old. Would recommend this hotel.
