Absolutely loved the stay at the Monte Real hotel!
Its the best family friendly hotel we’ve stayed at so far!
They have an animal farm, baby play room, table tennis, playstation room, inflatable castle, activities for kids, besides the regular swimming pool and spa.
The staff is very friendly and flexible! (we asked to checkout later since our toddler only starts his nap at 12pm)
Great overall experience! Would love to come back sometime in the future!
Located only a short walk from the beach, this unique 4-star resort features a seasonal water park and provides guests with a Spa. In the evening, guests can enjoy a delectable meal at the restaurant....

Vieira de Leiria/Praia de Viera is on the Silver Coast.
Vieira de Leiria/Praia de Viera is on the Silver Coast. Viera de Leiria is a small town connected to Praia de Viera (beach with restaurants, hotels, houses, apartments) by a long road. The area is relatively flat with sandy dunes. No rock cliffs like the Algarve. The dunes used to be covered with tall pine trees. Area surrounding Praia de Leiria is listed as forest, but a fire destroyed most of the pine trees years ago. You need a car to travel around this area. Mostly locals visit Praia de Viera. The beach town was empty during our stay as our family in Viera de Leiria says the beach town is busy on weekends in June/ September and all weeks during July/August. As we visited in June we did not need reservations for dinner. Restaurants are opened about 12-3pm for lunch and 6:30-10pm for dinner. We loved the pizza at Pizaria Costa Verde off the main beach front. Google said it was open 11 am-11pm on the Tuesday we were there, but he closed for his break and reopended at 7pm. (owner worked alone as staff were difficult to keep- best pizza we had during our 3 week trip). We also had dinner at Lismar restaurante (Monday night at 7:30pm) and Flor do Liz next door (Wednesday night at 8pm). Mostly seafood, but had a great steak at Flor do Liz.
Best thing about Praia de Viera is watching the local fishermen/women put their nets out via boat (now they have motors instead of just oars and tractors to launch the boats)and pull their nets in right at "fishing beach"-to far left if standing facing the ocean. You can even buy from the fishermen/women directly at fish market stalls nears "fishing beach". The tourist books say you can watch same at Nazare, but 3 years ago did not see locals fishing in July when I was there. Praia de Viera is not in most tourist books. So a great place to feel like a local and not a tourist.
