Amazing sea view, free parking place outside, clean rooms and comfortable beds. With the sound of waves you sleep like a baby 🙂 Very nice pool and jacuzzi. People working there are very friendly. Breakfasts are modest, but tasty.

The hotel is on a hill in the beautiful valley of Sao Vicente. Our room had a view of the magnificent mountains and the sea and it was amazing. The hotel and the room are pretty, the room has a small fridge, nice bathroom, and my favourite part was a balcony. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The breakfast has a good choice of food, even though it doesn’t change much from day to day.
Solar da Bica is a cosy and tranquil retreat. This comfortable guest house faces the mountains and has green natural surroundings. The Solar features accommodation in rooms and an apartment.

The property offers breathtaking views of both the ocean and surrounding mountains, creating a serene and picturesque setting that was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The loft itself was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
One of the standout aspects was the host, who was exceptionally friendly and responsive. She even arranged transport to the airport, which was a thoughtful and convenient touch that made our departure stress-free.
Overall, this was one of the best stays I've had, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning views and a host that genuinely cares about their guests.

This is a beautiful, small town in the north side you should definitely stay in. It's central to most everything (even though a huge chunk of a convenient road to some trails was closed...) and has its own lovely charm.

Helena is very kind helpful and welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The area is beautiful, the house is in the perfect location to explore the north part/north west, and spend time in the capital city.
House has huge en-suite rooms and a great size well-equipped kitchen, living room, and terrace with outdoor furniture.
We had dinner every day in Sao Vicente (5 min by car) Restaurante Calamar. Excellent food, and we were happy with everything we tried.
I am sure will go and stay here next time when we'll visit the island.

Sao Vicente is a great base for exploring the north of the island without really having a huge amount going for it per se (nothing negative). But Seixal is only a few km away and is my favourite village on the island! Sao Vicente does have a few ok restaurants by the sea but I had better meal experiences elsewhere during my trip. The local caves are closed for the next year or so.

The village is absolutely beautiful.
The village is absolutely beautiful. Ideal for walking around. The views are just stunning, especially if you walk on top of the hill where the small chapel is. It's just difficult to get there if you want to use public transport. Buses there are a nightmare. We were lucky enough that our previous host took us there from Funchal. Otherwise we would struggle as nobody whom we asked in Funchal knew where the bus stop was for bus going to Sao Vicente.

Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira,...
Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira, rather less well known than most of the south side of the island. It has an interesting old church, a garden of indigenous trees (for plant enthusiasts), volcanic caves and interpretation centre (for geology enthusiasts) and several good restaurants (for foodies!).
From Sao Vicente you can travel along the north coast; westwards to Seixal and Porto Moniz, eastwards to Boaventura, Sao Jorge or Santana. Drive inland to Encumeada, the starting point for several superb hikes, or drive up to the Paul da Serra moorlands.
The roads around here are in good condition and easy to drive, there's not much traffic and the local drivers are quite considerate.
I've visited this area at various times of the year, for hiking and plant spotting, and there's always something new.
Food and drink? No problems! There is everything from simple roadside bars where you can share your coffee break with the locals to top quality restaurants serving authentic Madeiran dishes.
The hotel is settled in an ideal location right on the waterfront, which offers fantastic views and sunsets over the ocean. There was absolutely nothing bad to be said about the rooms, pools, infrastructure and on top of all that, the hotel has its own restaurant, which serves excellent food! Must try is one of the Cataplanas on the menu!
I truly recommend this hotel and would stay here again without hesitation!
The property is beautiful, feels like staying in a garden. Nice views from the pool and the terrace. It is located in the hills above Sao Vicente, 5 min drive from a supermarket, 30 mins drive to funchal, Kid friendly, we were provided with a child chair and a bed. very helpful host, they did laundry for us as there was no washing machine on property. Also communicated fast and were ready to help with anything.
Nice view, large sliding glass doors both in living- nand bed room leadig to wide terrace.
Full size clean fridge (and freezer above).
Clean, new apartment.
Nice location by the road up to encumeda (also by bus...), but of course, not on the walking distance from village of Sao Vicente. Snack Bars and grocery store, however, in the neighbourhood.
Excellent wifi
Stayed here two times for 3 Nights in total the stuff was super friendly and the outdoor area more than beautiful, perfect view over the valley of Sao Vicente. We absolutely don’t understand why it’s not rated better. Breakfast was always filled up, the rooms where super clean and we really felt in love with the hotel cat 🐈⬛
Lovely hotel, short walk to the village, plenty of parking opposite hotel.
Pool area is well kept, plenty of sun beds and the view is amazing.
Much recommend
