The property was set in quiet surroundings and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and the pool area was lovely. The owners were also very welcoming and responsive. We received very clear instructions on how to check in, making it a smooth process.

The Centro historico was fun and exciting to explore. It is very compact with lots of churches. The Jardim do Sol were very pleasant. Very walkable place once you get to the top. All the normal grocery stores available.
Try the Pampillos, very good local confectionary. We particularly liked Cafe Bijou.

The room with the stunning panoramic view was clean and comfortable. The food downstairs was very good and reasonably priced. Parking was easy and accessible. The center of town was a good 25 minute walk so we drove and parked in the central underground parking lot. Easy. Nice shops and the Porto del Sol is a beautiful park with another stunning view.

Santarem is a small city north of Lisbon which is non touristy with a small but pleasant old town with a maze of narrow streets and old churches.
the city park the Portas de Sol is a wonderful place to relax in the shade.
It is within the old fortifications on a high ridge with stunning views of the Tejo river below.
The city has good traditional restaurants which are popular and cheap but close by 10pm.
City is a good base for surrounding region and has good transport links in all directions.Lisbon is less than an hour by train and Evora is ninety minutes by bus.
We stayed here during our portuguese camino. Staying at Tagushost was a mix of coming home to your parents place, hotel and hostel. The owner is literally the best guy. He is funny, so friendly and knowledgeable. He really addresses everyone individually and makes you feel instantly welcome, the fridge is accessible with drinks and food. Breakfast is available. The lounges are a great place to relax. Such a sweet place, it was like coming home. We really really loved our stay. Great experience. :):)
Lovely facilities, had the indoor pool to ourselves. Room was extremely comfortable as was the bed. We could walk into town and found a great restaurant called Blackdog, great for steak, loads of different gins and within walking distance of the hotel.
A rare find in the middle of old town Santarem. Spotlessly clean, great decor, lots of books and crannies to sunbathe in the sun or shade, swimming pool, great breakfast , cool music. Just loved it
