It has a nice relaxed family vibe, lots of little children around all night, with their families. Music in the streets and people sitting around listening and walking around. It's a little oasis of calm.
The beach is good, sandy, plenty of space to sit, when we were there, which was during the week. We mostly self catered, the supermarket is reasonable, with a good choice of products for those from Ireland/UK. For the 4 days we were there, we walked around the town, went to the beach and stayed at the apartment.

A fantastic trip!
A fantastic trip! Lovely restaurants, marina is lovely but more expensive than the restaurants on the beach. Do NOT take the little train which starts at the beach near the Irish bar. It states prices for adults and children. My child is ten and was charged an adult price. Disgraceful. Times are also wrong on the sign. The girl selling the tickets was very rude. The trip consists of about 20 min going through apartments and houses. Cd not wait to get off it. Waste of money.

Very nice and quiet city perfect for a little gateway.
Very nice and quiet city perfect for a little gateway. We stayed 5days and it was just perfect. The people and especially the hospitality was exceptional and we were made to feel welcome wherever we went. The food too was particularly good! Our favourite included La Cabane and Tico Tico.

Nice balance between peaceful/quiet and lively with easy access to the nearby places (Vilamoura, Albuifera, Amacqo de Pera, Portimao, Lagos, Faro etc). It is an easy town to get around on foot and it has good access outside the town by car. It was "home base" for us with day trips to other towns along the Algarve coast.

It felt like a chilled relaxed area, a lovely promenade to walk along, plenty of restaurants to choose from. This was my first solo trip and I felt very safe, I would definitely come back here and do some of the activities on offer. I took the bus to and from Faro airport which was all very straight forward thanks to google maps!

There is huge selection of restaurants and bars to choose. Generally the quality is very good and cleanliness is good.
Fish restaurants near the port are really good.
If you like cooking there is the fish and veg markets, you can buy fresh fish daily as it is a working fishing port, also there is a large open air produce market about 500m from the port every Wednesday with many stalls.
The old town has more character and little bars and cafes where you can get a better feel of portugues culture. Venture into the side streets.
Clean and lovely Apartment, Air-con worked extremely well !! 10 min walk to Quarteira beach. Good, quiet location but you will need to hire a car to get about but it is well situated for lots of lovely places. Rooftop pool was lovely but probably not best with young kids as the residents do moan at you about being quiet and no splashing etc. Had difficulty contacting Owner when we first arrived but once I had the correct contact number all was good. Loved our stay and the Country
A truly great hotel made so by the access to the water park, the pools but most importantly the STAFF.. special props to the guys at the bar, Michael and his collueges on reception .. the only things that let down was the rock hard beds.. I should of said something g and maybe a topper could of been provided, but wow they are so hard.. I’m now in a 5 star hotel on other side of the island and they sent much softer so maybe it’s just a thing out here..
Communication was extremely good with the host. Daniel emailed & called before arrival to Portugal to provide information. He also called prior to departure from the apartment. The apartment can arrange private transfer to and from the airport at an extra cost which we availed of and which was very reliable and professional. It has a large balcony which we enjoyed the use of especially in the mornings and evenings.
