Excellent location, large property with great views and nice swimming pool. Please disregard the negative comment about toilet roll on the review by 'Birznieksm Austria' as this is common practice throughout Madeira due to the nature of their waste water systems and processing.
Situated on the island of Madeira, the Dom Pedro Madeira is located on the beach of Machico Bay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The property is only a 5-min drive from the airport. The view from our room was nice. The selection and variety for breakfast were good. Parking was available at the hotel for free.
Situated in the centre of Santana, this quaint, traditional hotel offers you a peaceful retreat with beautiful views of the mountains and the ocean

Everything was above expectations! We really enjoyed our time, as the staff was extremely friendly and made a great effort to ensure the best experience. The small thoughtful touches made the visit even more special. Definitely worth every cent!
Featuring a house dating back to 1920, Porto Bay Serra Golf is surrounded by gardens, and provides guests with direct access to Santo da Serra Golf Course.

The hotel is very pleasant, well preserved and restored. We are glad we stayed here. The location is very nice, particularly the reasonable amount of tourists compared to other over touristy places in Madeira. Santo da Serra is a real local town that we love, especially the restaurants and bars with local food. If lou like something fancier the golf club restaurant nearby is lovely with excellent food at reasonable prices and fantastic scenery. The weather was pleasantly cool. The hotel breakfast is wonderful and service was very good.
Ample and easy parking and easy access on foot to local treks and to by car to the airport and all Madeira locations.
Surrounded by nature, Enotel Golf Santo da Serra is 8 km from Machico, 20 km from Funchal and a 5-minute walk from Santo da Serra golf course.

You can’t miss Porto da Cruz when visiting Madeira!
You can’t miss Porto da Cruz when visiting Madeira! It’s small but has a lot of character, I found it wasn’t too touristy which was a nice experience. Praia da Alagoa, although a rocky beach, was great for surfing! Plenty of places to rent boards from or take lessons nearby. We rented boards from the Jaca hostel (where we were staying) and salty which were both great value. Salty also rented hard boards which were great fun for us intermediate surfers. We also went to the furna do porta da Cruz which is a beach pavilion. This was really nice as it was a flat area to sunbathe, but you can also swim (or jump) into the water from there. It also was not overcrowded and seemed more like a locals area which was nice.
We ate out in the Snack Bar a Pipa located next to the Jaca Hostel, which was very busy. Food and atmosphere was really good, however only 1 vegetarian option on the menu. We also ate out at Vila Bella restaurant which was great and overlooked the sea. We stayed in Porto da Cruz for 2 nights and I think we would’ve liked to stay longer!

A small but very cozy town.
A small but very cozy town. Has few local supermarkets, few good restaurants and snack bars with a perfect food. Amazing rock views. Also you must visit a Madeira rum factory, that is located in this town and taste it. This town has 2 beaches and 1 local natural pool.

Sleepy little fishing village surrounded by sloping hills...
Sleepy little fishing village surrounded by sloping hills and sheer cliffs. Magnificent scenery around. Ideal for surfers. Pleasant climate when we visited in April. Flowers all around in full bloom. If you're looking for an active holiday hiking in nature and tranquil evenings, this is the place to come. Having a head for heights is a bonus. Or take gentler trails to get used to sometimes dizzying drops at your own pace. We stayed outside of Porto da Cruz in a little house about 20 mins walk away nestling on a green hill that sloped gently into a valley. Small streams abound taking water down to the sea. Expect birdsong everywhere, especially in the mornings punctuated with cocks crowing from small farmsteads peppered around the slopes. Frogs also joined in with their springtime mating calls trilling the air. Food was simple but from high quality local produce. We'd recommend this area and a visit to Madeira to those needing to get back to nature and a sustainable approach to life. Not too much litter in and around the town. Either local groups clearing up or tourists in general are conscious and careful to respect the natural beauty of the environment by leaving as little trace of their passing as possible.

Porto da Cruz is a beautiful quiet lovely hidden little gem where life slows down to a mere trickle , the people are friendly and the food is amazing , the sights and surroundings are clean picturesque and captivating there is no other place like it
Jaca Hostel in Porto da Cruz is centrally located, right next to the beach, pools, restaurants and bus station. And Porto da Cruz itself is a lovely town! The atmosphere in the hostel is nice, vivid, you may get friends, enjoy music, burger night, etc.
