The house is very pleasant and even though it is an old house, it has a charm of the past. The fact that we were able to disconnect was awesome. The place is quiet with lots of small villages and natural pools in the surroundings to visit. Rogério and Silvina who contacted us were extremely helpful. The keys were delivered by Silvina at the door and she also showed us the house.

I stayed only one night here and I thought it was great. I can't remember the name of the guy at reception but he came out and suggested a couple of places to park my motorcycle. Basically 2 or 3 mtrs from the hotel entrance where there was more space. Wow the view I had from the front bedroom. Fab location. Breakfast was also great.
The Casa Pires Mateus is located in the Historic Village of Monsanto. It is a typical house recently rebuilt keeping the traditional style of the village with its exterior granite walls.

Absolutely amazing place to stay in ancient Sorthela! You get yourself entire house, very old, with granite walls and clay roof. Inside you get all modern amenities - TV, Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchen, modern private bathroom, living room and bedroom with spacious bed. Parking and breakfast included. The drive up to Casa de David in Monsanto's old town was kind of difficult. But once we arrived we could find a parking spot near the accommodation.
The room we stayed in was adequate for 3 adults.

this is one of the most special places I have stayed in my entire life. every thing about this house is authentic. there are beautiful orange, lemon and lime trees in a beautiful garden with a small pool. when you are inside the house you can feel it’s history. the rooms were clean and everything we needed was there. the host was very nice and helpful and made us feel very comfortable. if you are going to spend time in Penamacor, definitely book this place.
The breakfast was excellent as well as dinner. We were spoiled for choices at breakfast, with even local biscuits and bread. Dinner had two set dishes (meat or fish). The meat dish was very tasty. The location and its surrounding is fabulous, calm, beautiful landscape. But the great value of the hotel are the staff, very young still but very professional. Very helpful, the greatest asset of this hotel!
Penamacore is beautiful, the people are amazing, staff spoke English. The breakfast was amazing, lots to choose from, large supermarket 10 minutes tops walk. Did not use spa facilities. Looked good but expensive
