The whole experience was absolutely 1st class. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful and quiet venue with amazing views across the reservoir/lake. Breakfast was a feast. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We only visited Montalegre for a short period, but found time to walk around the town and castle which offered terrific panoramic views.
We would certainly visit this town again and perhaps stay over for a couple of days the next time that we are in the region.
One of the most spectacular scenic settings of any hotel I’ve ever visited- the view out of our bungalow’s glass doorway was unparalleled. And the scenery is matched by the warmth of the owner-hostess, Fernanda: she made us feel so welcome and looked after, insisting we take sandwiches on the super hike she suggested we take to the next door village, Pitoes de Junias. Dinner was also delicious (especially the homemade cured sausage) and we loved feeling so close to the village, which still seems home to many local people who farm the land.

Casa Albelo do Gerês is a hidden gem. As the pictures suggest it is in a truly beautiful location. The hotel is very well kept and most comfortable. Fernanda and Miguel are exceptional hosts and the meals are superb.
Amazing views, the owner are super nice and kind. We had a great dinner as well. We also did a quick hike in the morning, directly from the hotel, which was great.
