Location is excellent: view of Portimao, the sea, the Algarve Autodrome and the estrada de Foia. Which is the route for the 2nd stage of the Volta ao Algarve cycle race, and there are a constant stream of cyclists throughout the year.
There are two nice restaurantes within 100 metres, Both have terraces with the same view. The Paraiso [closed Thursdays] has a log fire in winter and has fresh fruit for desert - if you ask.
Fantastic area for butterflies - eg a swallowtail flew over the patio!
Excellent area for night sky - clear view of the Milky Way.
Covered outdoor dining area and barbeque. Unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Good parking, with room to do three point turn.
Easy to find.
Washing machine and good clothes drying area.
Offering mountain views, Alojamento S. Gabriel 1 is an accommodation situated in Monchique, 21 km from Algarve International Circuit and 26 km from Arade Congress Centre.

Inside the apartment is very clean and very nicely designed . The view from the balcony is incredible and the place is just perfect really . The bathroom was spacious and even had soaps for us to use . The bedroom closet was large and tidy . It was just 2 of us staying and felt perfect for that , the other bedroom we didn’t use but it didn’t look very comfortable , the bed I think is a fold out thing and the room was small . Overall a really nice place to stay , a bit further out and down very windy roads but if you love the mountains like us it’s amazing .

Monchique Springs is a small village a few minute drive from Monchique town. It's much nicer than the town, which seems quite neglected. In contrast Monchique Spa is green, beautiful, well kept and much more interesting with an air of a spa in Switzerland, or England. A must to see!

A beautiful Roman Spa town set high in the hills above the Algarve; the hotel we stayed in was part of the spa which has been bought by an ambitious hotelier who has yet to improve all the buildings to a satisfactory standard. The signage at the hotel is woeful we spent the first two hours of our visit completely lost. If the entrance to the guest parking is down the side of a factory which it is, tell people rather than leave them driving around confused

Monchique is a pretty little town in the mountains, with quiet cobbled streets, boutique shops and wonderful cafes. The new Velochique Cafe is amazing. The area is dotted with incredible trails for walking and cycling and is a great place to stay for a quiet night but still close enough to the Algarve to visit during the day. Silves is a wonderful nearby historic town with an 11th century fort and more wonderful shops and restaurants. Monchique has a good mid sized supermarket that caters for all your needs too. And there are some good local restuarants.

Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Monchique was lovely and there is a good supermarket for self caterers. Had the best food at Vintage in the centre. Foia just up the hill was perfect for views. Brilliant stop for the race track at Portimao.

Monchique in august is a quiet, little, hilly town, a good start location for visiting activities in the surroundings: hiking, karting, kayakking (Lagos), visiting castles and so on. The houses are either nicely painted infresh colors or the y are in a bad shape and locked. In the town and also around it, are multiple trails to walk/hike.
Quinta do Tempo is a wonderful location in the Serra de Monchique, in the forest but near the beaches of Portimão, Lagos and Aljezur. This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and explore Algarve. The property is a well restored traditional house, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The hosts, Jorge and Laura, are very welcoming, and kept in touch with us before and during our stay. This is certainly one of the places that we have enjoyed the most in Portugal, due to the property, the hosts and the location. We will certainly come back!
Casa Mia was a cosy place from which to explore beautiful Monchique.
The kitchen was nice to cook in and the house was perfect for three.
The shower and bathroom were perfect for us, yes it's a small room but that didn't bother us at all. parking and driving was challenging once you get into the town, tight turns etc, but video directions provided helps a lot - highly recommend watching video as you drive! Solves all problems! Dont follow google maps :) it was so nice to be in a house inside the atmospheric town and worth the drive!
Everything, very kind and helpful staff, comfortable and cozy beds, the tipi has perfect insulation, each tipi has its own independent bathroom, which by the way its better than some hotel bathrooms. It has a shared space equipped with an electric grill, a shared freezer and many tables and chairs. It also has a cafeteria. The cherry on the top, Parque da Mina has enclosed spaces with animals that you can feed.
All in all, this is one of the best establishment of this kind we have ever been to.
Thank you everything.
One of the nicest hotel / guest house experiences I have had - we were road cycling around the Algarve and stayed the night after riding up the Foia mountain road. The views and sunset from the terrasse and lounge windows were incredible. The food for dinner and breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. This is the sort of place you can really relax and probably want to stay more than you booked for. Would really recommend and will hopefully come back.
awesome spa facilities (spa circuit and treatments were amazing!) location, staff and resort activities. staff are genuinely friendly, great with kids, welcoming, helpful. activities are also fun, wish there were more of them! Monchique is close enough to beaches (eg Portimaos) and other sites (eg Silves) so that there’s a lot to do despite its “quieter” location in the mountains.
Very clean and new apartment on the first floor (there are two holiday apartments). Spacious and well-equipped and right in the middle of Monchique. Lucinda was very friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy! We enjoyed our stay here but it was too short! There is a good pasteleria next door and a little supermarket.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Grounds were well maintained and it was very peaceful at night. Breakfast was very good. There was parking on site and it's location was close to Mt. Foia and town of Monchique. Pretty walk from the place to eat at Restaurante O Luar da Foia.
I work in tourism for almost 40 years. A hotel usually is for sleeping and eating. Here it’s to meet the most beautiful people that own and administrate the place. When people have big heart the place can’t be bad. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people.
This hotel is one of the best on the algarve and even better away from the the busy coast hotel's set back in the mountains it has all you need great service polite staff fabulous restaurants and great views and the rooms are spacious and well equipped
The room was clean and comfortable. Fernanda went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Monchique. There are some nice, local restaurants around and it’s a great location for hikes.
The hotel is located in mountains and the surrounding was beautiful, but a bit too remote. The rooms were clean and good sized. Although there were no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms and they only provided water on arrival !
A lovely decorated house on a hill looking down on Caldas de Monchique. Lots of nooks and crannies in the chalet itself- including a stone basement with a fine pool table. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in Monchique at this Chalet.
Very nice and clean hotels at the resort. The thermals and spa is in need of a little renovation. One working small sauna and one steam room available. You need to pay additional in order to use this facility
This is a family owned hotel and it looked like mist if the staff had been working there for a long time. The staff were really great and did everything they could to make us welcome and comfortable.
Amazing breakfast, helpful hosts and an incredible view. From the night skies to the ocean, a breathtaking place. Quiet and roomy space to sleep, with fresh figs growing just outside the hotel.
Beautiful location with fabulous views. Lovely pool, quiet and relaxing. The hotel is really good value for money and was very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Lovely location. Staff all very helpful, warm and welcoming. Lovely that we could do walks in the hills directly from the property and the hotel would do us a packed lunch.
I felt so welcomed at Wild Oasis! The warmth and beauty of my hosts and the very special spot in the Algarve, has made my stay my favorite of my whole Portugal trip!
beautiful, traditional hotel well maintained. great restaurant variety and prices. good breakfast. the pool area is really sweet and grounds are beautiful.
