Very friendly staff and great location in downtown Horta. The rooms on the road side are relatively small, but comfortable. Bathroom has all it needs, but is likewise relatively small. Some maintenance may be carried out.
Located in the old Azorean town of Horta, the newly-renovated Hotel Horta offers views of Pico Island. It features rooms with balconies, a large garden and an outdoor pool.

A wonderful hidden island for people who like the silence, the hiking and the mountains. Beware that the supermarkets have few things.
Azores are expensive to live, because of few available homes and the prices raise up.

Loved the old city...however, construction was taking place which made getting around by car a little confusing. Loved walking around the waterfront and seeing the famous marina as well as the artwork created by mariners. Shopping in the local stores was a good experience with prices that you don't feel taken advantage of. Shopping in the city's Mercado was also a nice experience. Trying new restaurants around the city was also a good experience. While there, rent a car...best way to get around as public transportation is not regular or abundant. Also, try to visit the neighboring island of Pico on the ferry and spend a few days there...lots to see.

Island more quiet than Sao Miguel, felt more centered around the sea. A good mix of sea and land. A few good walks along the shore or around a caldera or inland. Unusual landscapes. The roads are very good compared to Sao Miguel.

We have now visited Horta 13 times in eight years, and will continue to visit in coming months/years. For a small city in the middle of the North Atlantic, Horta has a very welcoming feel, and is an ideal base for people wanting to visit the central group of Azorean Islands.
It's easy to walk around, and the rest of the island of Faial is accessible through day tours, e.g. with Azores Experiences who we would highly recommend. There are whale and dolphin watching trips from March - October, together with walking tours, Caldeira descent (which requires a formal guide and cannot be done alone), and a visit to the volcano and interpretation centre at Capelinhos is a must.
There are a good number of excellent restaurants (Atletico, Medalhas, Genuino, Taberna do Pim, etc.) and the Oceanic bar and restaurant (their barbecue is superb) to try locally caught fish and local beef. For a good value breakfast or lunch, there are plenty of small cafes (e.g. Cafe Silva, behind Peter's Cafe) which offer great hospitality.
If the weather is good and you fancy a relaxing day, there is also the beach at Porto Pim, which is used regularly by visitors and locals alike.

Nice little layd back town with astounding views of the islands Faial and Pico with their different and mystifying volcanoes, over the ever present calming ocean sights and sounds. Friendly locals serve all kinds of traditional and popular dishes and snacks, and offer quality lodging depending on your wishes and wallet. With a rental car, taxi or public transport it's easy to visit interesting geological, natural and cultural locations spread around the island. There is a lot of time and space there to come to yourself or interact with the local community.
The room was extremely spacious and it was possible to cook something if necessary. When I booked it I thought it was only a room but they were all small apartments with kitchenettes. The hotel is situated by a quiet road and has fantastic views to the sea. There is a snack-bar downstairs where you can have burgers or other quick bites. There's a car parking and it's fast to drive to Horta. A nice place to stay near Horta.
This is a conveniently-located small hotel close to the harbour in Horta and just around the corner from the well-regarded Cafe Peter Sport. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They speak good English and were able to help with such things as taxis and Portuguese Passenger Locator Forms. A decent breakfast is served from 8am and the rooms are clean and comfortable with en-suite facilities.
The room was clean and tidy, with a daily room cleaning service. The grounds were very nice as well; we really enjoyed the pool and gardens. A sauna and Turkish bath were available as well, but we didn't use these services. We were also able to get some laundry done for a small fee, which we really appreciated. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel with the room and gate keys provided.
The house is beautiful, with a huge garden, terrace, big common kitchen and positioned near Horta.
But especially the owners are amazing people, very professional and super kind. Especially Afonso was amazing with us and helped us a lot solving some problems with extreme kindness and efficiency. If we can come back to Faial, we’ll definitely stay with them again. Thanks for everything!
This b&b is lovely. It has a beautiful garden and has one of the best views of the island, thanks to its location up on a hill overlooking the island Pico and Horta. It also has a wonderful host, Yvette who will welcome you warmly ! Also, breakfast is great and abundant. We really loved the stay here and recommend it for a perfect experience in Faial.
Elena and Gerry are amazing hosts. They are very friendly and gave us so many good tips about food, places to visit, experiences and more. They also helped us to find the best time for whale and dolphin watching and made the reservation for us. AMAZING. thank you so much for hosting us. It was the best stay in Azores!
There was fresh fruit in our room, the staff were very kind and hospitable in every aspect! As we did not like the regular filter coffee at breakfast, so we were served quality coffee with no additional change. We stayed in the hotel for just one night but would like to come back for longer.
Staff was great, very professional and welcoming. The rooms were quite big, modern (with AC) and clean. Shared rooms (kitchen, living room) were also very nice. The hotel has a modern look and is located only 5mns away from the city center (walking). You can see the ocean.
The size of the rooms and layout of the apartment made it so everyone could have quiet when they needed it. The apartment was well equipped and the location made our stay extra special. The outdoor patio and garden gave us a place to relax when at home, but still be outside.
Excellent hotel with friendly staff very conveniently located near the main harbor in Horta. Very good breakfast with a vast collection, good bar, good and quick room service, excellent staff at the reception who took care of all questions we had.
Wonderful villa, with a stunning view on Pico mountain and a beautiful garden!
The house is 800mt from Horta center, 5 min by foot.
Special bed, good kitchen, perfect toilette.
Lourdes is always ready to help you!
Go there!
Nicely arranged room space, vast shared kitchen space, terrace facing the ocean, helpful staff. It is actually a hotel with dorms available, not a hostel. All facilities are well maintained and clean
The place is great, very clean, with all the amenities and it's really well located. As a bonus, Elena is a great host. She has a lot of knowledge about the Azores, which she will kindly share.
Great place to stay in Horta, very well located, clean and with good bedding. The place is family owned and the owners are really nice and helpfull! Would definetely recommend to go there!
Enjoyed my stay at Kosmos...Location is optimal for exploring Horta...The View from the Apartment is Amazing...The Studio had everything I needed...The Staff are friendly and helpful!
Charming house with a lovely garden in a quiet neighborhood. Great resting sleep, tasty breakfast. Thoughtful hosts that care about their guests. Will come again for sure.
