Loved our overnight stay in an upgraded room with fantastic views of the church opposite and lake in the distance. Immaculately clean and tastefully furnished room with a nice balcony to take in the views. The restaurant offers good choices and we enjoyed lovely quality meals. The breakfast buffet was also very good. Parking was at the front of the hotel.
This hotel offers guests rooms with overlooking forest landscapes of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. It features bike rental, free Wi-Fi, and a restaurant with panoramic views.

Clean, comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff who gave good recommendations.
Nudging the Spanish border and situated within Portugal’s only National Park, Peneda-Gerês, Hotel Universal features an internal courtyard with hanging gardens. It also offers an outdoor pool garden.

The property was central, the staff were lovely, it was clean. It would have been brilliant in its heyday, but is now rather tired looking.
We loved that our room looked out over gushing water, great sound.
This apartment hotel is located in the heart of the Peneda Geres National Park in Costa Verde. It offers self-catering accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool and an à la carte restaurant.

It was clean and felt bigger than on the pictures.
Even though a bit far from the accommodation, the pool was great.
The hotel parking is an extra but a good deal.
The bedrooms, a terrace and the breakfast room at Hotel Eco Salvador offer panoramic views of the surrounding Cávado River and hills. Offering an outdoor pool, it is 5 minutes’ walk from a small...

Staff is adorable. Restaurant is excellent and affordable. Breakfast is great. The place is well organized and shining clean.
They are flexible and served breakfast earlier, and allowed late checkout with no cost.
We came on the bus from Braga. Actually, there was a one-day strike and we took a taxi. We took the bus back. The bus runs infrequently and you have to buy the ticket on the bus. Once in Geres, if you don't have a car, you can find out about the trails from the tourist info center so you can get into the park. We also opted for a 4 hr tour with Carlos at Lobos Tours and it was worth the $40 to see all the parts of the park and some of the small villages and the waterfalls. He was born and raised there and has alot of knowledge of the area. One bummer of the visit was the Parque de Termas is only open intermittently and was closed when we were there. Apparently this is a problem. If you want a hot spring dip, you need to go to the Spanish border. Not far away, but need transport. It is a nice village overall.

Geres is a unique place where you can see nature in its best, there are so many attractions even on low-session, and plenty of native restaurants along all routes, i have been there for 5/6 years in a row and I am still impressed with the place as you can see my own photographs attached. Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning.
Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning. Views are amazing. There are plenty of bars and cafes, and a small well stocked supermarket. It has a good public transport network. We hired a kayak twice during our stay with AML.

Don't try to go to Geres for a long weekend, it's not enough time but if that's all you have, then don't miss it! Amazing hiking and quaint villages all around. We chased waterfalls for 3 days and loved it.
The Sao Bento da Porta Aberta Sanctuary was so unique and loved the juxtaposition of the old and new churches. Stunning tiles in the new museum.
We also had a quick stop at the Vilarinho das Furnas dam. We love dams but still cool to see. A short easy walk from the dam is a cute waterfall and a perfect spot for a picnic.
Keep your eyes peeled for wild horses and shepherds with their cows and goats.
The town of Geres itself is small but I really enjoyed a quick stroll around town and found some great artisan shops to get souvenirs.

We had a fantastic time in Geres.
We had a fantastic time in Geres. The staff at Baltazar Hotel were extremely helpful and kind- especially Orlando. We had a challenging and beautiful hike and spent one afternoon with a guide who showed us so much of the park. The food and generosity of the Baltazar staff was wonderful. We would come back for a longer stay next time and recommend to anyone.

Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom...
Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom of the surrounding mountains near the hotel. Hotel was very clean, and big. I was pleasantly surprised. Polite man at the reception when we got there, very attentive and prompt when requests were made. My only advise to anyone checking out in the early hours, e.g. around 03.30am is to allow extra time because there may not be anyone readily available as they will be carrying out other tasks (as the polite lady mentioned when the bell at reception wasnt attended to with the usual promptness). Other than that, extremely wonderful stay
The location is excellent with an amazing view, its a short walk into the main village of Gerês, which was perfect for me. The food at the hotel was good, traditional and with large portions it's great value for money plus with the local wine for 1.50€ you can't really go wrong. Catarina is the most helpful and hard working member of staff and I really appreciated the efforts she went to and made me feel welcome.
The room was very comfortable too and a good size. I would stay here again for sure.
Beautifully located in the middle of nowhere -
You breathe in the fresh air and are only surrounded by nature. :) Perfect for a relaxing and quiet time.
The receptionists were friendly, breakfast was more than OK but is only served starting from 8:30, if you are planning a long hike I'd probably leave earlier than that.
Rooms were clean and had enough space for storage, beds were comfy. Shower areas also clean, towel included. It is a traditional youth hotel and in that way basic.
The Residential located in the heard of Geres, the owners do not speak English but we were very warmly welcomed. The son of the owners traveled a lot and gave us two very good routes to visit around Geres, with a great restaurant recommendation. The room was big and clean, local cafe was lovely as well, did their best, even cooking eggs outside of menu to tend to our morning protein needs before hiking, very good vibe all around. We would love to visit again.
The apartment fully met our needs for a clean, comfortable & spacious place to stay. It is located above well above town next to the trailhead we had picked for a full day walk up to the top of the beautiful ridge above Geres. Our pleasant and informative hostess met us upon arrival then showed us around the apartment which shares a building with two other units. We enjoyed having our meals on the deck and the quiet location.
Perfect room, space, location and services. The view is outstanding and the hotel room was incredibly comfortable. The décor details spread throughout the hotel play a great part in the experience as does the peaceful scenery around the premisses. We were amazingly welcomed by all the staff members we encountered and the stay was that much more memorable due to their kindness and hospitality. Surely a hotel to return to.
Chalet Villas Geres is a lovely oasis near the Peneda Geres National Park. It is within any easy walk to the charming town of Geres and near the hiking trails of Peneday Geres. The pool is clean and absolutey beautiful, tucked under a huge Palm tree with the river nearby. Our villa was quiet and private. The hosts, Susana and Tomas were a delight, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
The hotel is a family run and it has an old fashion and homey feel. The owner and the stuff are very kind and accommodating! The facilities are clean and well maintained. It's also very peaceful and quiet.
Highly highly recommend the restaurant! The meals are delicious and prepared with love and have a home cooked taste.
Will be back for sure!
Amazing family hotel in Geres! Staff was super friendly and service orientated. Room was spacious and had a great view to the water. AC existed and was needed in August.
Restaurant offers delicious Portuguese cuisine for dinner and lunch. Had dinner there nearly every evening during our stay.
Incredible balcony view of the valley above Geres. A short walk to nearby restaurants. A large kitchen for cooking anything at home. Sweeping night skies with stars that look like they're right in front of you. A short drive / walk to several trails / paths.
A perfect location to visit the National Geres Park. The room was good with all amenities. The breakfast was very good.
Very friendly owners and dear Carla, guiding us to visit the beautiful places in Geres.
Very clean and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment in Gerês. Great service from the administrator Cecília. Quiet place and beautiful views. Fully equipped kitchen. Decent Wi Fi.
The property and location is realy nice. As always, Selina made a good job converting an old "hotel" to their concept. Hardware is good (beds, showers, pool, lights, etc)
