Hotel Faro & Beach Club, hotel in Faro

Located in downtown Faro just a 5-minute walk from the train station and the bus terminal, this modern hotel overlooks the old town, marina and the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

We arrived a couple of hours early and were fully expecting to have to leave our bags with reception so finding the room ready was really nice. The location is perfect as a base for exploring Faro and the surrounding area, 10 mins to either the train station or the ferry to the beach. The upstairs bar / pool area where breakfast is served is really nice, and breakfast was excellent with a large selection of cold and warm food. Beds were large and comfortable

FAQs about hotels in Faro

Colourful, Historic, and Sunny

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.

Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.

The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.

Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

It`s a very small city that needed more attention concerning its colonial and historical houses. It`s a need to survive nowadays with tourism. If you are vegetarian, go straight to Vida Leve Vegetariano, good food, good price, no complaints at all. Everything fresh. Bertrand library is a good place to buy some books. You can do everything in Faro walking

A friend recommended a free walking tour.

A friend recommended a free walking tour. I did this the next morning after arriving the night before. The excellent tour guide showed us around the main places of interest but also told us many interesting historical and cultural facts as well as recommending good things to do and places to eat and drink. It was an excellent tour. Faro is such a beautiful and interesting city in so many ways. Fantastic food and drink and cheap if you go into the back streets a little bit. Beautiful beaches, birds, fish, shellfish, wildlife, churches. Everything is within walking distance. You can take the ferry to Praia de Faro. I did this twice and also took the ferry to Farol island which was amazing. Put your suncream on though, if you miss a patch, you'll burn (I went in August). The churches and Faro cathedral are so ornate and beautiful - some are made of bones! - a Portuguese trend. Faro is perfect for the solo traveller. I'm a single woman but I felt safe at all times. I found the Portuguese friendly, polite, helpful and respectful. If you love nature, culture, art, beauty, cheap and good quality food and drink, you'll love it. Transport is also good and cheap. I saw at some cute cats too!

We only wandered the old town but loved the peaceful vibes.

We only wandered the old town but loved the peaceful vibes. We Couldn’t understand the shop opening times, there were siestas but then they didn’t open in the evening so most shops were closed when we wandered about after dinner so check when shops are open to avoid disappointment.

Yes I recommend Faro, I always did, it’s a touristic city, but is not crowded. Normally the hotels are good and quiet as well. The beach is fantastic. There are lots of shops and others facilities near the hotel, which is great.

Fantastic location - I'm pleased we chose to stay on the beach rather than in Faro township. Great restaurant for dinner and breakfast - cinnamon toast in the morning was special. Excellent value but did notice that Summer prices were significantly higher. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking next to the hotel was fine but Summer could be more problematical.

Great guest house in the center of all the best that Faro has to offer, but be sure to make a reservation to eat and taste wine / Port at Opus. The hostess and host have alot of knowledge about wines and food. Very friendly staff, they all work like a big family. Had a great time there, when I come back to Portugal I will go back to Opus for sure.
