Beautifully restored building; wonderful staff; gorgeous room; lovely swimming pool; perfect breakfast. Plus love the fact that Covilha is a 'swifts' town and the air was full of these beautiful birds :-)
Located on the outskirts of the historical city of Covilhã, the Hotel Covilhã Dona Maria Affiliated by Meliá, offers stunning views over the Cova da Beira valley and surrounding mountains.

The staff, the room and the breakfast were incredible
Beautiful scenery, full of life! The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, the souvenir shop at the top of the mountain has a lot of good things, and the prices are a little higher than in the city center. In the shop at the top of the mountain you can buy sheepskin products, leather and wool slippers, furs, and reasonable prices; you can also taste meat products, various sweet wines, cheeses, which is why these products are a little more expensive, but the price is only 1-2 euros more expensive. Of course, there are wines and cheeses in the small grocery stores in the city center, but it is not possible to try them. Unless you are very familiar with the taste of these products, it is better to taste them first. There is actually a Michelin restaurant here Laranjinha, which has been awarded Michelin since 2018, and the price is not expensive at all. It is very difficult to make a reservation online, but if you go to the site and arrive at 12:30 noon or 7:30 pm when it opens, you will always have a seat. Covilhã puff pastry dumplings, lamb shank stewed rice, cod scrambled eggs, and steak are all worth trying

An amazing small city located on a mountain.
An amazing small city located on a mountain. The city is separated into an older part and a more modern part which is located at the lowest part of the mountain. The city has a plethora of murals and street art and you can download a dedicated application where you can find where all the murals are located and have a self-tour. The old part of town has amazing buildings and you can get lost by walking in the small traditional streets. The restaurants are of high quality and all the food we tasted was simply amazing. I will definitely be coming back :)

Unfortunately when we were there for a 3 night stay the weather was poor on two of the days so I might say the stay was too long. Didn't visit the city at the base of the mountain. The village where the chalets are situated was very quiet with not much going on, we spent most of the spare time in the hotel which was nice.

The Pousada is perfect for a relaxing break.
The Pousada is perfect for a relaxing break. The views are incredible. The service is very good, made to feel welcome. You need to drive back down the mountain for restaurants etc but the Pousada has everything you want. The air is fresh and all you can hear are the birds, superb.

A great city to use as a base to visit nearby mountains and go hiking. Also, if it's the right season for cherries, head to the market and get some. This area is home to the famous Cerejas da Gardunha you see in every supermarket in Portugal :)

O’Serrano de Repleto de Magia was fantastic for dinner!!!
O’Serrano de Repleto de Magia was fantastic for dinner!!! Covilha otherwise is a lovely, slightly sleep city in the off season filled with very friendly talkative locals. Free parking at the city square until December 2020 so that was great!
We felt like home. It very was clean, tidy, pretty enough even for 4 people, and ready to stay. Silent, peaceful, and full of utensils. Not need to bring anything, self care products were ready too: shampoo, towels, ...The iron was really good. We love every morning to see the beautiful mountain view. The owner was very helpful also. Close to UBI buildings and attractions in the city. If we visit Covilha again, we would love to stay in Altavista. Thank you so much🙏
The inside pool was amazing and the kids love it. The gym was great. The rooms where large and clean. The parking was good, both in the garage or the outside. The location is really good, away form the tight center of Covilhã but a small drive form everything, including going to the Serra da Estrela to look for snow :).
Beautiful boutique hotel located in city center Covilhã. Walking distance from many good restaurants and the fabric museum.
Spacious rooms. The indoor pool is ideal to relax before dinner!
Breakfast is diverse and filled with regional fresh products. Don't skip any of the local produced cheeses.
Brilliant hotel close for the town centre, I stayed here whilst touring Spain Portugal by motorcycle, parking is convenient by the front door, rooms are spacious, really well equipped and the breakfast had a great choice. I would certainly recommend this and will use it again.
Modern, comfortable hotel with parking to the side and rear. Room size is reasonable but adequate. Breakfast is excellent. However, there is no restaurant. Dinner is available at a sister hotel (Dona Maria) 300m away. The Serra Shopping Centre is also close by.
The apartment has all the conditions and equipment and is spacious. The host even left a couple good surprises.
Covilhã can get very cold during the Winter but the heating in the apartment is fabulous.
Bonus: you can take your dog.
Nice and clean place, room was spacious and had AC station to regulate by preference. Very diverse breakfast with proper espresso machine.
Hotel is close to the number of hiking trails as that was our priority.
Nicely appointed hotel with spa indoor and outdoor pools, secure parking for motorcycles. Short walk into town for excellent meal as recommended by host.
This was my second time at Hotel Solneve. It was clean and comfortable as always. In a central location for eating out and seeing the sites of Covilha.
The food was wonderful. The room was spatious with one sports TV channel to watch Champions League. The spa and swimming-pools facilities were amazing.
