The property is in a great location within walking distance to city center, restaurants and all main attractions. It was clean, modern and comfortable. The double room is very small however it is sufficient for a short stay. Breakfast was a full Mediterranean style buffet at €5 per person which was great value for money! We enjoyed our stay!

Walked all over Aveiro. Wonderful parks. Going through the university was interesting. Took the boat ride down the canal which was fun. Had a multi-lingual guide who added a lot to the experience. Found a great, reasonably priced shop that sold only hand-crafted, Portuguese made products.

Aveiro is a picturesque town around the canals with many bars and restaurants. If I were to go again I would make it a day trip as you can see most of what the touristic part of the town has to offer in a few hours. We found the food in the restaurants to be relatively bland.

Aviero is beautiful.
Aviero is beautiful. The town centre has amazing Portuguese style buildings, the streeets are very clean, it is all very walkable and the gondola trips are very reasonably priced and leave from the canal in the central area. These tours are in multiple languages, so suitable for everyone. The local restaurants have all types of great food at very reasonable prices and local supermarkets and shops are really good value. People are friendly and helpful. Loved our stay there.

Lots of tourists in Aveiro at the weekend, many on the moliceiro boat trips along the canal. Lovely way to sightsee if weather is good - it was quite hot before Easter but with a cooling breeze. The multi-lingual guide on the moliceiro gave detailed and interesting information about Aveiro, especially the Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings as well as the stunning modern architecture. Also the fishing history of Aveiro was explained well.
Lovely walks alongside the canal from MELIA hotel, quiet and very little traffic until you arrive in the centre. On Sundays many market stalls selling numerous antiques along both sides of canal.
Back street walks are full of interesting surprises, traditional tiled buildings, sculptures, cafes, restaurants and bars. Very easy to walk around and explore or cycle on numerous dedicated cycle paths. Also excellent S Joana museum and art gallery in centre.
Good place for a long weekend or even a week if you also want to get out of centre to the beaches.

Aveiro is a charming city with fantastic food and friendly people.
We are moving there, that is how much we like it. It is much cleaner and quieter than Porto (where we have lived for the past 3 years.)
There is lots to do, shopping, eating, sites, boat rides, museums, to name a few.
There are lovely cities nearby as well. Ovar, Costa Nova, Águeda and Ílhavo. As well as Coimbra.
It has a great central location 2 hrs from Lisbon and less than an hour from Porto.

Aveiro is a beautiful city overall, my favourite place is the Ria of Aveiro wit his colourful boats and the Barra's beach with his colorful wood-houses as well.
I ate in a restaurant near the shopping centre Forum. I've rent a car from Lisbon to get around so I didn't need a public transport but there's a bicycle in the city to rent to get around which is very useful.
You have to go to a restaurant on time between 12-15 otherwise it won't be easy to find a place that open till late for lunch.
I like traditional restaurants around the city instead of the fast food ones. In Portugal the food is amazing!
The hotel was amazing and luxury with very great service and many attention to details that makes you feel valued. Service was great. Room was nice, bed very comfortable. The breakfast was super nice as well as fine dining. The other amazing thing - Amouge shampoo and shower gel. That smell - reminds me amazing time in Portugal.
Amazing value for money and excellent location to explore the town but also other nearby towns: Agueda & Costa Nova were amazing! We had one of the best meals in Portugal just a 5 min walk from this hotel and the reception staff helped us to book a boat ride which was cute but we could have skipped this.
Definitely the best apartment we had in all of our locations in Portugal. Very well organised and clean. Communication with host was perfect. Plenty of parking in front of the building. I will definitely come back to this apartment next time I visit Aveiro. Highly recommend!
The location is perfect, right in the city center of Aveiro. The room was very spacious, The kitchen had some appliances and a table with chairs. There is a balcony with some chairs where you can dry clothes (on a wall).
