We had room facing riverside so had lovely views from windows as well as very big balcony with seating space.

Karczewo is a village of Polish farms, not a village with central stores, etc. The closest main attractions would be the local Catholic church, and the National Forest which several people brought bikes to ride.
The main town, Barglow, is about 20 minutes away and has amenities you would expect to access, grocery, restaurants, etc. About 30 minutes away is a great place to visit, Augustow. Went to a Greek restaurant there of main square. Also lots of lakes in the area, and a Shrine to St. Mary out of town is worth visiting.
