Lae is a commercial and industrial hub of PNG. Not much for tourists. You need to have a guide to get around though people seemed very friendly and we never felt as though our safety was compromised. It seems very little government money comes to Lae which is a shame. Roads are really bad but with the right help there are interesting things to see. Checkout Laeabout tours on Facebook. They were brilliant in helping us whilst we were there.
