I was expecting a charming Latin American city.
I was expecting a charming Latin American city. Instead we found a poor copy of Las Vegas with the emphasis on gambling in Casinos. Crossing the border from Chile to Peru was a nightmare standing in line in the sun for over an hour. We had to return to Chile mid-trip for a day and decided not to cross the border 3 more times so remained in Chile.
Apartment is good to stay for a night or two. It's well equipped and has almost everything you need, even a coffee maker and wine glasses, which is very good. In 2 minutes walk there is a kind of boulevard with restaurants. The area seems to be very secure (like all Peru, despite many reports of the contrary)
This was a peaceful, sweet little hotel.
Super convenient location - walking distance from the bus station and close to restaurants downtown.
Friendly staff, big bathroom, several tables in the room (nice to have multiple horizontal surfaces for bags and luggage)
Location, cleanliness, attention, easy to get in and out, they follow protocols and sprayed the room immediately before entry. It is close by to the central market, plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Easy to find transportation around.
lovely Continental breakfast typical of Peru. 5 mins walk to Cathedral and shops. Automatically asked if we wanted them to call us a taxi when we were leaving. (Safest thing to do in Peru, rather than just getting in one that is passing).
Everything was excellent: lovely cotton bed linen and towels, good size room, plenty to choose from at breakfast with freshly squeezed fruit juices. The staff were very helpful, allowed us early check in and advice on what to see in Tacna.
I loved how cheap everything is and how close to the centre the hotel was. The host was very kind and helpful he told me where I can get good food and where the market is located. Such friendly atmosphere.
