- Really super friendly owner
- Fantastic view of Volcan Baru from the terrace with sometimes breathtaking sundowns
- Excellent place to meet other travellers
- Good starting point for a walk in the mountain forest
- Beside the road to Chiriquì Grande it's a good place for a stopover on the way to Bocas (and there's not that much choice in the area)
I would recommend a stay of 2-3 nights: if you stop for one night only you'll probably miss the beauty of the surrounding nature, a bath in the mountain river, ... For a longer stay there is not really much to do up there.
Cabanas Rio Encantado features a year-round outdoor pool and rancho with terrace, it is strategically placed in Caldera which is between David and Boquete, a total of 24 km from David, The cottages...

Staying at a tree house was a real experience, we think it was definitely worth it! Such a private spot in the middle of nowhere, right by the river (it‘s pretty loud but you get used to it), cool jungle trail (about 2km), the kitchen area, … really cool! Also the staff was super friendly and helpful and organized taxis and laundry service whenever we needed it.
Just be aware (should be clear when you‘re staying outdoor): yes there are bugs, noises, there seemed to be some bats in the tree when we staid there etc. But it was all very clean when we arrived!
Hot springs aren‘t to far and easy to reach by taxi.

The place is majestic, the staff was very welcoming, the facilities were very confortable. They are upbringing fruit trees that help reforest the area, and the staff overlooking this project is very passionate about this. It is near the Boquete area which is a well know touristic destination, so Wanakaset is the perfect place to both rest and do outdoor activities.
