Brian and Dan simply understand true hospitality, comfort, relaxation and fun, which they offer their guests in a very genuine way, cause it's simply who they are. It started with a welcome cocktail and our room and all the other areas were amazing. They thought of every detail to provide happiness and comfortness, like fresh flowers everywhere, drinking water in your room and sufficient fresh linnen, including towels for the swimming pool. And, oh my ..., that pool! Perfect! So refreshing and right in the middle of floroushing nature. Trees, flowers and cute little frogs in all kinds of colours. They provide everything completely off grid, eco, with full respect of nature, without losing convenience.
Breakfasts were absolutely delicious, as was diner. Since Dan is a chef and simply knows what is good, when and where. In our case: first two coffees, then slowly ready for breakfast ... ;-) And the desert creme brulee deserves a bigger than big recommendation!
This place felt like arriving home, without the worries, work and obligations you have at home. So comfortable, at ease and relaxed, but also so much fun and taken care of, without having the feeling anything is too much for anyone. In full liberty and happiness everything happens and goes. It all feels like go with the flow.
Also: we went to Bibi's on the beach and Coquitos Beach with Brian and Dan (Sunday Funday! :-)...), where we enjoyed cocktails, live music, great people of all sorts, and good pizzas. And they arranged a hiking and snorkling trip for us with Junior, to Old Creek and back, which was truly amazing as well (beautiful spots, fresh fruits and sashimi straight out of the ocean!).
These people know how to treat you and make you feel, like you are on a holiday, with áll your senses! :-)

Los Bastimentos is so much nicer than Bocas, I would greatly recommend staying here instead of on Isla Colon. A real Carribean feel, friendly inhabitants, not overly touristy. Excellent snorkelling just a watertaxi-ride away at Hospital Point.

I like all the island nearby that all had uniqueness and individual charm. We visited 7 various spots and stayed in 4 islands accommodations. All seemed to be noisy at night with either jungle animal sounds, local bars blasting music or boat traffic. Day time hammock naps are a must!

We liked the snorkeling adventure, but with high surf some of the better snorkeling spots were off limits. If snorkeling is high on your list, be sure to allow for the proper time of year with more calm seas. We saw several sloths on sloth island during a tour and on Bastimentos. We enjoyed the natural beauty of red frog beach and playa bluff. When going to playa bluff, take the local shuttle or taxi as the roads are challenging.

Basti was fantastic.
Basti was fantastic. The people are so friendly and the island has such a laid back atmosphere. There are no cars on the island, which I thought was awesome. You get a real feel for the culture here, while also getting a nice beach getaway. We stayed in Old Bank, so we enjoyed watching the boats and locals. Definitely bring more cash than you expect though, most hostels on the island don't accept credit cards, and to get anywhere by boat costs money, as well as entry to the beaches. We blew through our remaining cash quite quickly, and there are no ATM's on Basti.

Bastimientos is easy to access from Bocas Town by boat taxi, but it is a different world... much quieter and more basic and natural, with good access to lovely beaches. Bastimientos is the option in Bocas if you want something quieter and more simple.

I stayed, relaxed, ate and drank at Palmar Beach Lodge and I have to say, one of my favourite places so far. The atmosphere was very relaxing, great staff and a big shout out to Jimmy, the best waiter/barman/entertainer!
I stayed in an 8 person dorm, had a great bad, no troubles sleeping and the beautiful beach is just waiting for you to get out of bed. I stayed for 7 nights, which was a little too long in my opinion, as there are many islands around that I could have also explored, however, the regular trips organised by the Palmar Crew (also a super friendly and nice bunch of people) made up for my lack of pre-planning. Greetings to the entire team and hopefully see you again in the future at some point.
Excellent place for those who want to spend a few days in the jungle and close to the sea. I cannot express how well we were received by Carmen and Marcel. Always eager, they prepare amazing dinners (we will miss Carmen's salad). If you visit Bastimentos, Carmen's place is the place
Palmar Beach Lodge is located right across the Red Frog Beach in the middle of a beautiful forest. It’s location, the facilities, the rooms are so beautiful you feel like you are in heaven. The restaurant has a very rich menu, and the best smoothies.
Amazing place and setting. Beautiful view of the sea. Right next to the hotel was a beautiful park with wild birds and animals.The cooks cooked deliciously and made the most of the possibilities and ingredients they had.
It’s a really beautiful setting and very peaceful compared to Bocas town, which is only a short water taxi away. Good access for all the nice beaches on Bastimentos island
