Special location! Look over the fjord, and this is the main motivation we choose it. The facility is pretty good, and outside BBQ facility is a bonus. My son likes it very much. The only thing is that the sofa bed is a bit small for my 13 years old, but overall highly recommend especially for two people.

Nice hot bacon and eggs cooked fresh for breakfast. Good choice of cereal and different milk. No almond milk.
Nordfjord is a lovely town, I will come back to visit next year.

> No running water. Water to be fetched from the river.
> No electricity AT ALL.
> No kitchen : no dedicated space for cooking, no utensils, no gas/woodstove. The only way of cooking is the barbecue outside, although very exposed to the elements (fire is not allowed on the dry weeks which was the case during our visit, no covered terrace to sit outside on a rainy day)
> Toilets : dry toilets, or rather a set of wanky planks in an old barn.
> Sleeping : 4 single old fashioned wooden beds scattered around the house. People from 1.85m and above won't fit (yet sleeping on the floor is an option as suggested by the host).
> Overall : very creepy, unpractical old "house" (museum?), full of family pictures, souvenirs etc.
You could do with(out) all the above, but certainly not for 75 euros a night. At this stage I still don't know what we've been paying for ?? We left about 30 minutes after the check-in to the nearest camping, for a better view and some actual services.
The host refused even a partial refund and Booking was of no help at all. We lost 150 euros.

Staff were really helpful - and arranged for us (and a few other 'private' guests) to have our dinner - a buffet - before the coachload of a tour group arrived. Despite the large tour group our quiet room at the end of a corridor ensured that we weren't disturbed by the coach tour's early departure on the next morning. Excellent location, and good wholesome traditional Norwegian food.
The historical part including the dining rooms are very charming which is what you see on most marketing materials. The 'new' half of the hotel is another story, some standard rooms are quite recently painted, and have paint smell, if you mind book the Nordic rooms instead.
The Hotel was very clean and comfortable with historic connections . Good location with view of the fjord and easy travel routes. particularly good for two night stay if you are on a road trip.
