Excellent location, we were going to the MotoGP, we arrived later than planned to be met by Roelie the owner/manager. She really couldn’t do more for us. Despite it being early evening, she set us up with ALL we needed and popped to the local store to buy Mosquito Spray for all 3 of us. She then cooked pizzas for us and made sure we had everything we needed. Great personal service! We would recommend this location and Roelie was fantastic!

Wow - such a splendid surprise! This is a typical truck stop hotel with lots of trucks parked overnight. But the room we stayed in was hugeeee - I booked it for 3 people but you could easily fit more, lol. This was more like an overnight stay at someone's flat rather than a hotel - and I mean this positively. There was even a balcony to sit outside. A coffee machine inside. Breakfast was included and they had good options.

We needed to get an early bus in Meppel at the train station. This hotel provided a relaxed way to spend the night before in Meppel so we could get to the train station on time.

Best time to go for the famous "stoofperen" would be September (check the sales date for when you can buy a tree full at the auction)
Also outside this time there is plenty to see in the area. Moreover there are some nice pubs and shops. Its close proximity to Drents Friese Woud, Hunebedden, Giethoorn and cities such as Meppel and Zwolle make it a great place for a short stay or as base for a bit longer exploration of the area.
A mistake on my part for next reading the blurb. This is not a hotel or Airbnb, it’s a campsite and the bathrooms are outside and shared. It was clean and the owner did come to check in on us however, I take the responsibility for not reading the details.
