We enjoyed Haarlem. There were many restaurants and places to visit. The people were friendly and most spoke English. We didn’t any problem walking around town every day. We really enjoyed our visit there.

Haarlem is a pretty town, and a lively destination.
Haarlem is a pretty town, and a lively destination. I mainly walked around, looking at the canals and houses. One of my photos shows one of the older canalside housing (green door). The station is a lovely Art Nouveau building with tiled pictures, the only one in the Netherlands. Transport is easy, and Haarlem is convenient for Amsterdam, Leiden, etc, and for visiting the bulb fields at Keukenhof in spring.

Haarlem is beautiful in it's own right with lots of historic buildings, and charming streets which have been greened with tree, shrub and flower planting. There is the Frans Hals museum to visit, and much more. Take a walking tour of "Monumental Haarlem"
Haarlem is also very conveniently situated for Amsterdam and surrounding areas. We used public transport all the time. Just swipe on and off the bus or train, and everything is taken care of. Really simple, and it all works smoothly.
We also found some really good restaurants for our evening meals.

Haarlem is a wonderful city to stay in as it has the canals, lots of history, good shopping and plentiful restaurants.
The Grotemarkt has the oldest organ in Europe which Mozart played on and Corrie Ten Boom’s house(who hid the Jews in WW2) is better than Anne Franks! The very first museum in the Netherlands is also here-Teylers. The Saturday market is wonderful.
It is only 15 minutes by train back into Amsterdam and you have a better feel of regular Dutch folks in this beautiful town.
Our stay in this Haarlem B&B, right in the heart of the city and easily accessible from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, was a delight. Ad and Esther, our hosts, went above and beyond with their caring nature and hearty breakfasts. The B&B’s old-world charm added to the experience, but it was the personal attention from Ad and Esther that truly made our visit special. Choosing Haarlem as our base, with a quick 20-minute trip to Amsterdam, proved to be a fantastic plan. We highly recommend this B&B for a warm Dutch getaway.
We loved the fact it was an apartment and not just a room. It is a funky warehouse conversion over three levels. It has all the mod cons like washing machine and dishwasher and a fully equipped kitchen.
Great views of the Spaarne river and easy access to Haarlem and 20mins by train to Amsterdam.
We arrived New Years Eve and had a grand fireworks display.
The owner Pieter, was very friendly and helpful and very accommodating when we thought our plans might change. I highly recommend this lovely place.
Great location in the heart of Haarlem, surrounded by very nice restaurants and coffee shops.
Room was comfortable and clean. I had a nice coffee machine in the room.
There was a gentleman at the desk when I arrived at 7am, and he was very helpful. His name was Ozcan. He was courteous and understanding of the fact that I had just landed in Amsterdam and agreed to give me an early check in but at an additional price.
We had amazing days at Park 43! Since we didn't want to stay in Amsterdam, we decided on Haarlem and were very lucky with an incredible host, attentive from the first contact. The apartment is excellent, with great accommodations. We spent New Year's Eve there because we wanted some tranquility and it couldn't have been more special. It was an excellent stay, we hope to be able to come back one day!
The room was very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of hot water with a good shower. They serve a very good breakfast. Haarlem is the perfect place to stay and plan day trips to Amsterdam, rent bikes and ride to the National Park and the North Sea. Many good dinner restaurants in Haarlem if you venture beyond the Grotte Martk.
Excellent hotel. Friendly staff. Nice large room. Our only disappointment was the smell coming from the bathroom, as it sometimes smelled like sewer gas. The location is outstanding. We walked from Haarlem central, and then was easily able to tour the sites and restaurants in the area. Beds were very soft. Bunk beds excellent for the children.
We loved our stay at Hotel Malts. It was the perfect location, about a two minute walk to the main square. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable beds. Our highlight was the breakfast each morning and speaking to Henk and Annemarie. If your thinking about staying in Haarlem, do yourself a favor and book early and through their website.
We stayed for two nights and the location was perfect. The walking distance both to the main station (to take the train to the beach or Amsterdam), where the parking garage ist located, as well as to the city centre are very short. A huge bonus: the hotel is in a very very quiet street, so the nights were highly relaxing.
The location is beyond ideal, you are right next to the train station but we were never once bothered by noise. The staff was fabulous, the lounge is comfortable and welcoming. But again the access to transport was my favourite element. Haarlem is a wonderful city and a welcome change to staying in Amsterdam proper.
Great location; less than 15 minutes to walk to the center of Haarlem. Friendly, helpful staff. Underground parking garage nearby for which we paid less than 4 euros for the night (7 pm to 8 am). There's a spot right in front of the hotel to load/unload luggage from a car. Good buffet selection for breakfast.
This is a very modern comfortable hotel with everything you need. We paid for breakfast and it was good value for money. The room was spacious, a good shower and a balcony. Don’t be put off by the location, frequent buses run just outside to the centre of Haarlem, the station and Amsterdam.
Henk and Annemarie were extremely welcoming at the hotel. The rooms were great and the breakfast was lovely. It was a great hotel for our family holiday - easy access to Amsterdam and also an opportunity to see other parts of the country.
Very pretty and comfortable room in the heart of Haarlem. Good location and easy access via public transport to Amsterdam Central and Airport. Lovely breakfast served each morning. Fresh flowers in our room was a beautiful touch.
A great hotel with a very helpful staff in the center of Haarlem. The room was very nice and spacious, there's an elevator which is rare in the Netherlands, breakfast was very nice, hotel parking was a huge bonus.
Haarlem is a great town and we’ve visited several times. This was our favorite hotel. The suite had everything we wanted from a terrace to a bathtub. The staff is terrific: very friendly and helpful.
Very nice laid back atmosphere, beautiful interior design, amazing town - I had a great stay in Haarlem. If you want to avoid the Amsterdam tourists crowds, Haarlem is the perfect choice.
The age of the boat, the moorings in both Haarlem and Amsterdam were fantastic. Raphael was helpful, friendly and accommodating.Breakfast was generous with a wide selection of food.
Really spacious rooms with balcony and close to the bus stop. 2 stops to Haarlem main station and from there the sprinter takes you directly into Amsterdam.
