Apart from our minor niggles below we loved everything about this. You get a lovely big room with a fantastic bathroom and a super comfortable bed, plus access to your own kitchenette in a communal dining/lounge area. There is also seating outside and some chickens to look at in a run. It's all very new and furnished and decorated very nicely. The fridge contains a paid mini-bar and the alcohol free beer was very nice at E2 for a very big bottle.

Haaksbergen is a neat little town with everything you need in terms of shops. Not a town for going out, sampling culinary finds or soaking up culture. But after a long day of walking or cycling in the beautiful surroundings, you can unwind and have a drink and a bite to eat.

It's a small Dutch town, nothing special, in the low season it must be boring but in spring-summer it is surrounded by beautiful natural areas, I'd advise to rent bycicles and just ride from village to village and enjoy the fields, forests, rivers, lovely farms. There are necessary shops and quite an ok choice of horeca with takeaway. The railway museum was unfortunately closed but looked pretty interesting.
We used the hotel as a stop over on our outward and return journey home. The staff were fantastic. Location was absolutely stunning. Next to a stud so we also got to watch the mares and foals being brought in from the fields. Food was excellent for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Beds comfortable, rooms were huge and beautiful. Breakfast was fabulous. So dog friendly they even have a dog menu if you need it and location was fantastic for walking them. Would absolutely stay here again. We all loved it and were sad too leave!
- Hotel has a restaurant. We liked this option since after much walking with our dog, we really did not want to get into the car and search for a place where to have dinner
- place is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed even in the restaurant or during breakfast
- bathroom had indeed a bath tub, perfect to warm up and relax after walking all day
- very nice and picturesque location in the Dutch countryside
This was an unexpected gem of a hotel. It's a little off the beaten path but is very historic and interesting (which we like). The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The restaurant was superb! The chef's choice (3 course dinner) was fabulous.
The hotel was really nice. It was located outside the city and in the forest. The hotel room was really big and it was on 2 levels. Enough space to add beds/ cots for kids.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is really nice. It had all that we needed for a weekend with friends outside of the city. We were able to enjoy the nice garden there and to walk around quite a lot.
