We were made most welcome by our host Monique. The location in Assen was perfect being right in the middle of the town with the Market and weekend activity. Easy to access walking in the woods. We enjoyed hearing about the area’s history from our host. We would definitely return if the opportunity arises.

We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition at the Drents. We had no other itinerary, other than to see the exhibition, and leave. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, engaging locals, and a pretty little town that is really easy to get around. We stayed the night, and were happy we did. An unforeseen highlight of our visit to Holland.

Assen is a beautiful city, and is perfect for a visit, We go every year for the BSB races, we always come away feeling like we want to stay longer, locals are so friendly, the streets are clean, I always visit Deer Park a lovely park with friendly Red Deer who will happily take carrots off passing visitors.
Take the walk or cycle through Asserbos a wood full of paths and trees with bird houses on them the Dutch care.
Eating out is full of choices, various restaurants are located in the square.
The station is in the centre so go to Gronigen a city of diversity and students, the museum is worth a visit, marvel at the Martino Tower and walk up to the top for a view of Gronigen. Train takes 17 minutes. Two hours away is Amsterdam and trains are comfy, regular (even on Sunday) so no excuses.

There are lots of places to eat and drink in Assen but the town is incredibly quiet at night with no one walking about. This gives a bit of a dead atmosphere in my opinion. Not the place to go if you want to party. Fortunately, for me anyway, this meant quiet nights with plenty of sleep.

Clean, friendly and vibrant town, plenty of food options, reasonable pricing, keep your eyes peeled for cyclists, they appear from nowhere! Transport good, trains, buses and taxis all at the same location, bikes for hire to enable you to become one of the traveling masses!

Assen is a small and quite city in north Holland, I wouldn’t make a speacial trip only to visit here, but if it’s on your way, you will find a lively center with shops and great restaurants with delicious food! I especially recommend the Tapas bar Villa Tapas and on Wednesdays morning there’s a market right in the center. Nice to walk around.
Great spa. Comfortable spacious room with terras. We travelled with a dog which was not allowed in the restaurant but we could dine in the bar without leaving our dog alone in the room. For breakfast, there are tables in the lobby which provide a solution. There is a forest next to the hotel. Breakfast had many choices and was good value for money.
What can I say. Everything was just perfect, the entry, the parking, the beautiful cottage, the clean rooms and the phenomenal breakfast and to our host Esther: wow, such a sympathetic, friendly, helpful lady. The accommodation is definitely worth a recommendation and everyone who stays there will agree with me, I promise!
Very nice park and surroundings. Lots of activities and clean. Nice to have a private room and terrace. Centrally located for access to Assen. Very nice area to walk and cycle. The staff tried to resolve our problem. (See below). We were offered lunch as compensation for the inconvenience.
Breakfast was very good. Also, the option to purchase "buffet dinners" was great as some of our group had dietary restrictions.
The location of the hotel was close to the race track and it was within walking distance to town as well.
We were very pleased with the pool at the hotel.
Lovely place. A really slice of peace and tranquility in Assen. You can clearly feel the love and passion that Bert is putting in his B&B. Private parking, lovely garden and the stove in the room make the atmosphere cozy and warm. SUPERB breakfast with a lot of fresh food!!!
We were bumped up to a better room which was very comfortable and had a bath in the centre of the room. Ate in the restaurant both nights and food was excellent but not very expensive. Staff were all very friendly and eager to help. Free parking as well.
Reception and staff where great. Rooms simple but very clean. Restaurant, ala car was really perfect. For the rest, its for the moust visitors an all inclusive deal. Ofcourse this comes with the normal enviroment
the room was comfortable and clean the wifi was good the restaurant food was very good. I was leaving early on my checkout day and so the staff ordered me a takeaway bag to replace my breakfast.
We were in Assen for a 5 day cycling event. The apartment was the perfect location and our hosts were very welcoming and their provision for our bike related needs was most appreciated.
Very clean, large rooms (at least the one we booked), well organised, large pool and fitness (it the hours you are allowed to go to them fit your schedule), very close to Assen.
Great location next to the center of Assen and walking distance from the train station. The room was spacious with a comfortable bedroom separated from bath and breakfast area.
Centrally located.
Restaurant Brownies and Downies right below. Excellent for breakfast and lunch. Shops a stones throw away. Kitchen well equipped. Living room comfortable.
