I stayed in Arnhem over the weekend, and was much quieter compared to Amsterdam. It's a nice location with great public transport, many restaurants & shops, sights to see, and places of interest to visit. A selection of clubs & bars too, if that's your style.
A great choice of hotels in the area from low-cost, budget friendly options to something a little more luxury.
And being home to the Gelredome, makes it a great place to stay if attending an event held there, with a 20 minute walk from Arnhem Central station or 5-10 minute bus journey.

Burger zoo. Bookshop Colofon. The Art Museum. Really nice. Don't miss the garden of the Art Museum. The Open Air Museum ok. But one could buy beutiful china inte shop in the open air museum. Water Museum disappointing not a museum but for kids. Arnhem has a really nice cat café Kattenkafe de Muis. Sweet cats and good food and friendly staff. Plenty of shops in the innercity. Very easy to take the bus to places outside of Arnhem.

Dutch people are usually friendly.
Dutch people are usually friendly. Arnheim was pounded during the end of WW2 and has since been resurrected into a lovely city, which has a tasteful blend of old and new. Plenty of cafes, also nice coffee shops.

We went because we were interested in the Battle of Arnhem. The bridge and the small museum about it were well worth the visit. A short train ride takes you to Oosterbeck and the Airborne Museum at Hartenstein which is a very good museum. The church opposite the apartment was rebuilt after the War - lovely inside and there is a glass viewing platform you can pay to access if you are not scared of heights. The cafe we loved was the Focus Film Theatre cafe which is just outside the apartment. There are plenty of other lovely cafes too.

We were in Arnhem for one night.
We were in Arnhem for one night. You could probably extend this to two nights but well not sure if it is worth it. We arrive around 12 and went to Kroller Muller (remember you need to tickets also fgor Hoge Veluwe - also there are free bikes in the Hoge Veluve so you do not need to rent them). There are some nice restaurants.... after the restaurants we went so sleep (during watching a bridge too far).... The next day we toured the city and went to the John Frost Bridge and the Airborne Museum. Then we had to be in Amsterdam. You probably can spend another day there to see the other sights maybe Arnhem War Museum or Sonsbeek Park but after Hoge Veluwe we were ok in that respect.

We visited Arnhem because of it's close proximity to the Hoge Veluwe National Park. Very easy return journey there by bus and I would recommend staying in Arnhem rather than Otterlo. Also to visit the war museum and cemetery. Very good shopping facilities as well. Even though the city was badly damaged during the war, and it lacks the charm of older quaint Dutch towns, it is a very interesting destination.

Really lovely hotel in a quiet par t of town(except for the railway across the road). Lovely bar next door. Had a really relaxed evening sat out in the square having a few drinks. Easy parking around the square.
Loved the repurposing of the church into a small hotel, the rooms over looking the center of the church. The style was cool and trendy. The staff were super helpful and really welcoming.
