This place was wonderful. It was far enough away from noisy nightlife, so easy to sleep also at earlier time, but still very close to the beach and everything else.
It was clean and very well furnished. In fact, the design was really exquisite for that price. The bed was very comfortable. Shower, fridge, coffee machine, safe everything worked fine. I can certainly recommend „pool view“, because then you face the backyard, which is very beautiful. The partially sunny balcony was bright, but never hot. The staff was very helpful. Very much appreciated was also the freshwater which was available for the guest.

San Francisco, also know as San Pancho, has grown over the years and now has many good restaurants to choose from. At one time there were maybe 3 to choose from. The beach is busier than it was, as it is being "discovered" by those who are not happy about the crowds in Sayulita. Swimming in the ocean is somewhat risky and surfing is very limited. Many hotels, and there are more every year, have small pools. I hope the construction "boom" doesn't overwhelm the infrastructure.

Quintessential Mexican beach town with a mix of local flare, worldly X pats, and tourists from all over the globe. Tons of yoga studios, foodie restaurants, vegan restaurants, and lots of environmentally friendly efforts. The actual beach is not super relaxing since the surf is big and dangerous for kids.

san Pancho has become very upscale from the days we used to winter there from Canada, when it was basically a little hippie town.
San Pancho Animals are doing a great job at controlling the unhomed dogs and cats with lotsa help and free spay neuter clinics, I never saw one animal that needed help.
Be careful when on the beach as there are a lot of rip tides on that beach and that whole coast.
Marias restaurant was fantastic and we enjoyed our breakfasts there as in the 2010-2014 days . We enjoyed the turtle releases at the Tropical Beach Club on the north end of the beach

People recommended going here.
People recommended going here. They said it was less crowded than Sayulita. We loved the vibe of Sayulita even thou very crowded during Christmas & New Years.
San Pancho / San Francisco basically has 1 long main street loaded with restaurants & shops. High prices for tourist throughout. It was pretty crowded after the New Year. If you go past the restaurants you can find street vendors selling chicken & other things.
The water at the beach can be unpredictable & powerful if your near or in the water.
I visited for 3 days. A day trip would be okay or 2 days at the most in my opinion. But, I'm not a real beachy person. Love to watch and hear it. More of a mountain person.
Weather was very nice during January. Never got burnt.

We especially appreciated the areas away from the main strip - there was a beautiful community center, a theater and many interesting homes and restaurants on side streets. We really enjoyed our daily walks. Our favorite restaurants were Su Pancha Madre and Jasmines. It is hilly there and the streets are stone and have holes so you need to watch your step!

Very crowed during Music Festival, as usual.
We have stayed in this town for at least 10 years, town was as expected.
Plan on not driving through the town anytime during the day.
Park on the edges of town, not town center.
Watch out for 1 way streets.
